i jsut made yet another crafting mastery aa to allow me to take JC past 200. what path should i take to get up the cheapest and fastest?

Cheapest metal+cheapest gem thats above 200. IIRC it's platinum and like amber or another cheapy gem. Once you trivial that, use the next expensive gem.

Highly recommend Complete TS guide v2 in the guides forum for this. Lots of people have taken a look at this and it is the best comprimise between quick and cheap.

You could try palladium jewellry as an alternative depending on prices of scale ore on your server. You do need to do the reinforced jewellry kit quest in AS for this though in order to convert scale ore to prismatic palladium.
Nihilite, shimmering nihilite and polished quartz also provide skill-ups above 200 iirc and can be sold for a wee bit of profit.
If you need even more variety you could try cutting flowstones although the failure rate may be prohibitive at lower skills.

IIRC - Gold Ruby up until it's trivial , yes it's more expensive than Platinum Malachite, but you'll have more successes due to the lower trivial, and will take less losses when reselling the successes.
