Aug cutting problems

Why does it seem I have no trouble cutting augs I have recipes for (67 level enchanter, 330 int, JC 292/306, JCM 3) but when I try an aug I haven't been successful at I fail at a high rate? My first Emberflow Stone, Sodalite and Kyanite all went kablooie. Probably just random, but still makes me go hmmmmm... Thankfully, after hosing the Sodalite, I successfully cut my Tourmaline.

Anyone else notice this?

I'm using a planar bag, not a collapsible.

It is probably just the RNG, HOWEVER:

If you have numbers of successes and failures and those numbers are way out of proportion and you have what appears to be a correlation to the recipies that you have learned, post your results here and let the community have a stab at explaining it.

The RNG is actually random, over HUGH numbers, and very streaky over the short haul.

The GM eyeglass changes the Red aug cuttings to yellow, I know if the combine is red, I have forgotten to equip it and I do so.

Happened again today...

Tried to cut a Mossflow Stone today (298/312 now) which was not in the recipe book yet so I clicked experiment and *poof!* It was also one of those days where I only went 5 or 6 for 10 on a run of augs, though I did get a skillup to 299. Went to the bazaar, bought a Mossflow Stone, opened my jewelry bag normally and succeeded, so maybe there's something amiss with the experiment option.

The consensus in some previous posts here about cutting augments is that the success rate is capped at around 70%. I have come to accept that over the long haul roughly one in three attempts will fail, despite having JCM3. Now I no longer look for any meaning in the patterns. I once failed 7 augment cutting attempts in a row with JCM3 and a modified skill of 315.

I havent cut a ton of augs but I am 14 (success)/20 (attempted). 3 of these have included Kyanite, Sodalite, and Howlite. 315 skill with only salvage 3.

BTW ~ I am a 70 Necromancer

I have no idea how successfull I am overall, I've done 5 for 5 and 3 for 3 a few times for guild, and then failed twice for my own profit.

It's just the RNG out to get me.

So far I'm 0 for 3 on Titanites, two for the same person.

It may be RNG or it may be not. Before the last set of patch, I have tried about 15 or so gem cutting. I was successful about 75% of the time. I am 300 in JC with salvage 3 and the trophy. For last 3-4 days I have tried about 12 combines of variety of gem cutting recipies, mostly in trivial of 320-340 range. As the poster mentioned, it should be about 75% range for success. I was able to successfully combine 2 of them and failed 10.

I know small sample yadda yadda but I am not sure if there was some stealth nerf on the recipe. I am going continue to try some lower end combines (ones I can get cheap in bazaar for like 500pp each) and see if the RNG evens out.

Probably the RNG. I am 11/17 = ~65% success on radiant cuts (351 triv) since patch, 297 JC, no mastery.

I have a JC of 310 mod. ATM. I found that I make about 8 of 10 with out salvage and sence I'm a necro I can't get JCM (sucks). I also found that the higher end augs such as mana regen augs ect.... seem to give me skill ups faster then stat augs at the same trivial. Now maybe it's just me but seems little it works better. I hope to max out this week And get salvage 1 very soon. Then we will see how the rate changes.

Repeating this again because it's still not widely understood, average success rates for radiant augment cuts are apparently capped at around 75%. This means JCM has no benefit for radiant augment cuts to anyone with 300+ modified skill.

Success with 8 of 10 is very close to the best average over many combines that others have reported.

Cut 4 augs tonight- failed on three- all AA plus moded skill 315.

I hope it's only a streak and not a "broken by patch" bug.

My experiences with cutting a few hundred augs is that there is indeed a cap at around 75%.

Hit 300 JC with 15 points from eye glass. Still find the 8 of 10 post holds true....I hope there are more DoDH combine than just the indicators.

Since the expansion, I'm 10 for 10 on aug cuts. 300 JC + trophy, no other AA's.
