I found palladium JC to be very uninspired.

Here is a good way they could shake it up alot.

Change to to ATTUNEABLE augments with lower stats and slot restrictions based off the traditional gem slot. No more than 20 hp or mana.

If they wanted to be keen, add in an arbitrary extra component. Easy component for 50% stats, tricky component for 75% stats, and hard component for 100% stats, with HP augments (the most important ones, really) going from 15 to 22 to 30. This could be used to 'purify' the gem component (and, while they are at it, they could require multiple gems)

    Example:
4 diamonds + Small Piece of Acrylia = crystalline diamond
4 diamonds + Pile of Gravel = bright diamond
4 diamonds + Metallic Drake Scales = ideal diamond

crystal diamond + palladium = 4 AC, 4 all resists, ring, augment, attuneable
bright diamond + palladium = 6 AC, 6 all resists, ring, augment, attuneable
ideal diamond + palladium = 8 AC, 8 all resists, ring, augment, attuneable

Given slot restrictions, these won't run other items out of business. The'll just raise the average augment level.

If SOE wanted to be cruel, they could even make them non-removeable, giving JCers an audience to resupply with gear every time people get a gear upgrade.

    edit: my spelling sucks

    No, really.

Palladium was a disappointment. Short of being a cheaper skillup path to 300 range, the stats were sad. The twinkers with low level alts gobbled up some of my stuff but, in general, its a dry hole.

I think the augment idea is a good one, and on another thread there was some confusion if augments isn't what palladium was making anyway.

You are right though, they should have made the palladium items augments as you describe. But what would be wrong with making them even a bit more powerful than you suggest, but make them slot type 13 (or whatever is the next unused slot type), and put slot type 13 onto our older crafted jewelry? So, we would fine tune some of our older jewelry with newer augments, all using JC.

The total stats of that jewelry should be competitive but lower than quested gear. and fill that market of people who have a few slots of crap gear, but don't want to spend too much time/energy on an upgrade to "best item" for them. I have a few slots on my characters that I know I will eventually fill with raid gear. Until then, I am using junk that is still better than anything we make in JC. How sad is that?

There is a market place for items to fill a temporary need.

          It was very disappointing.
I was expecting something usable to someone.
