  • Hi Elf Wiz wants to make jewelry

It seems High Elves are better suited to smithing and tailoring, but I want to make jewely

My wiz can imbue fire opals. Can this be profitable at all? Can a wiz make do by trading imbuing for enchanting. I'll imbue fire opals for chanters enchanting metals for me.

    Reasonable?

Imbued Fire Opal rings are useable by wizards who worship Sol Ro....no exactly a big market, so I doubt an enchanter will NEED them all that often.

However, with your PBAoE spells you are well suited to farming greens for tradeskill components and sellable vendor trash, so you can make plat and just buy the enchanted metal bars

I'm embarrassed to ask but what does PBAoE mean? I think it has something to do with area spells. I do have them but never use them because early in the game I found they made basilisks aggro on me when I went after a warrior wasp. Guess I should learn to use them for farming, but I don't often find a group of greens close enough together except in Toxxulia.

Thanks for the reassurance. Research and making spells will be my primary skill, but I'll go ahead with jewelcraft for a passtime while medding and fishing

        become an enchanter

personally would suggest if you really want to make jewellry that much .. make an enchanter - in the long run enchanters are more likely to be asked for for a group than wizards are, and enchanters are currently the only class that can ultimately get the AA's to reduce fails on jewelry combines

PBAoE = Point Blank Area of Effect (spells)

When you are able to, do the quest for the Staff of Temperate Flux, it's an essential wizard tool, an instant-cast, castable from inventory, right click debuff (-6 to fire & cold).

Once you have this you go around clicking as many mobs as you can, gathering them in a nice train, and when you stop and let them cluster around you, you fire off your PBAoE spells. It's good to have HP buffs and a rune up, of course, so that they don't pummel you to death before you manage to kill them all. Fun to do in Ek, gather up spiders, snakes, lions and wolves, anhilate em and loot silks, pelts, some snake eggs, etc....and since the snakes are on the same spawn table as the spiders, more spiders will spawn

I love doing this, but remember to be courteous if there are others in the zone and not train them or take all the mobs.

And just a random tip that I like with my AOE farming, type /hidecorpse looted This means that once you loot what you want off the corpse, it disappears, eliminating the need to loot and destroy all the stuff you don't want. Very helpful when all the corpses are piled on top of each other. I believe its just a toggle so if you accidently don't get everything, just type it again to make the corpses appear.

Another PBAoE tip : get up against a tree or wall so your spell won't be interrupted as much.

or do the "caster twist" - when you come to a stop, hit thw left or right arrow key to turn in place slightly. I also sometimes turn in place (which makes me dizzy ) ...seems to prevent the long-casting PBAoE spells from being interrupted very often.

                  ...but don't BE a chanter...

By all means, make an enchanter!!! Doesn't mean you have to BE an enchanter...just make one to enchant all your metals for you That's what I did. My High Elf Wizard is currently at 200 JC...so I'd say go for it!

I'm sure the AA's to reduce fails are nice...but it's not really the failures I have had a problem with...it's the overall cost (platinum & velium are ridiculously priced).

I imbued quite a few Fire Opals and made some nice rings out of them. Demand wasn't outrageous...but it found it's niche. I'm sure there were a lot of people buying them and saying, "**** it! I forgot to check the deity!!" (I hate it when I've done that...)

Personally...I'm glad I let my wizard do the Jewelrycraft. My enchanter really wanted to be a chef anyway
