Failed on this combine and can anyone guess what was salvaged?

Nope, the 35pp Fine Hydroabrasive.

Anyone else fine this to be just plain wrong?

A 4kpp augment versus a 35pp trade skill component.

Salvage provided a Chance to Save an Object(and the object(s) is random) You will LOVE Salvage the times it DOES work. But it's not broken. It's not a guaranteed save. That's like calling Forage Broken for not Foraging the object you want...

Note before the Patch, there was a Chance for you to Salavge an Item Not lost. Imagine Salvaging.... a Gem Cutter, when you got yours back on the combine anyway. Lol. How did SOE Mess that up? heh

I dunno, given the price of gem cutters at the time, that might have been a good deal! =)

Well you dont lose the gem cutter, and i beleive they fixed it so you can only salvage 'lose-able' items, not items that you always get back.

Over time and many combines salvage is great. Like any other percent chance item it takes a large amount to get a good "feel" for how it works.

I used it when I was skilling up in tailoring. I had 220 arctic wyvern hides - velium studs - cod oil - and mask patterns. I salvaged enough to do 240 combines and enough cod oil and hides to do 7 more (just needed 7 more velium studs). That just kicked ass. I salvaged as many mask patterns as I did cod oil and velium studs. It all worked out over the long run.
