Enchanters have the option of spending AA points on Jewelcraft Mastery which is described as reducing the failure rates on jewelcrafting by 10, 25, and 50 percent. Does this truly reduce the failure rate or is there still the built in 5% failure rate. For example, if I have JC master lvl 3 and attempt to make 1000 silver lapis lazuli necklaces (triv 17), should I end up with 950 necklaces or 975?

unsure if this works with the 5% autofail, but you will see a major increase in success rate on 251+ trivial items, ie, PoP jewelcraft and the silver chains for the solstice ear...very much worth the points if you plan on doing a lot of top end jewelcraft for your guild, or for fundageGrishnar Dragonbane - 80 Armorer/Assassin & 400 Transmuter

and I make chains and valorium rings in bulk.
My quoted compatriot here has the gist of what JCM is for.
Useless on Silver rings, but of supreme importance on the 250+ trivial items.Master Iannyen Sparklybitz

Let me kind of expand my question, even though I suspect it may have been answered. My skill right now is in the low 190's and I plan on skilling up all the way to 250. I'm starting to collect AA to put into JCM. I figure it'll take me about two to three weeks or so for me to get the 18 points needed to get all three levels. Since I'm done with the 30pp or less combines and all that are left are in the 70-110pp price range, anything I can do to get even a marginal increase in success rate is the difference between being able to afford skilling up quickly, or having to drag it out over the coarse of several days/weeks. Should I wait to do my skill ups until I've got JCM 3 or will that not affect success rate since I'm not going to be skilling up on stuff that trivials >250?-- Mewkus: 2100 dings on the server formerly known as Solusek Ro

Although it will not help with the 5% autofail, JCM will help with all the combines you do as you skill up. Chance of failing a combine as you skill up will be close to 5%, normally you are much worst off.
In your original question you used an example that would already be very trivial, JCM will not help with those, with your skill up combines you will rarly fail. You might want to put off the skilling up on the higher end gems and metals until you have a couple levels on JCM. Unless you are in a hurry you will be able to skill up with much less cost if you have the JCM AA.Amaruk

Get 250 skill, then JCM
Use the time it would take to get 18AA to generate cash to fund your skillups. A 59+ enchanter should have little trouble coming up with a few thousand plat. And its been said in other threads that, provided you enchant your metals, you can turn a profit while skilling up. Paying a few plat for a JC geerlok can make all your combines trivial anyway.
Unless I missed something, or there is some missing information, what you are planning doesn't appear to be optimal.Gabantik - 65 Enchanter - Mithaniel Marr

I have JCM 2, don't plan on getting farther. I too make the gem chains in bulk since my husband's char is a GM tailor. I rarely ever fail on the gem chains now. Yesterday I went 46/48 on them (pretty typical batch). Have done 30ish valorium rings maybe, and haven't failed yet. It was worth the 9 AA points since I hate failing :P
