greetings and salutations. quick question. as someone that HATES playing a caster, i made a chanter for research sales and for enchanting clay/metals. i'm currently 12 an donly have one account. what can i do to raise lvl quick enough to be able to enchant a few more materials? i can't paly a chanter to save my life....literally heh

There really is only one way to gain levels... play the character. Especially since you have only one account. There's no "quickie" way to 49 (Top end enchant metals spell). If you're looking at this just to make cash from making jewlery, I'd say you're looking down the wrong road.

Just go to the normal places - Kurns tower, paludal cavern, high keep - and get in group. I hate to say this, but it is really hard for the other in the group to know if you are playing well or badly. Just cast some bad spells (nukes, dots, weaken ) on the mobs and med when you get to 50 mana. Don't worry how bad you are. Don't try to be uber chanty. Have a laugh! You might even enjoy it. You cant be worse than the ebay guys who cant play a 60's chanty!Obina Redemptus

Well, if you want to do high end jewelcrafting, you're going to need to get to 49 minimum so your 'chanter can cast the high end enchant metal spells. Mid 20's, as I recall, will let you enchant silver, clay, and electrum. Maybe gold, but I won't swear to that one. If you want to imbue the planar diamonds, you're going to have to get to 65 to be able to cast all the imbue spells.
Also, Spell Research is level capped; you will need to get to 50ish anyway to maximize it. No one is going to pay a level 12 enchanter to do a combine for a level 50+ spell.
If you truly hate playing a caster, you may be better off making friends with a few high level enchanters on your server and paying them to enchant things for you. If your goal is to have a 'chanter of your own to make money, then you're looking at a long term time investment.
It's not easy to PL a chanter; their dots and nukes are relatively weak, and the pet is a joke. Charm soloing works better, but is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Chanters are group friendly; haste and breeze are good things. Get 3 or 4 friends of about your level, and go hunt dervs in N. Ro. They are rarely camped any more, and you'll learn how to lull pull which will serve you well later on. Dervs will take you to 14, and then you can move to PC if you so desire.

I also am not fond of playing an enchanter, even though my main is a caster. I do play mine from time to time anyway, and have now gotten her up to level 26 (I can enchant clay, silver, electrum, gold, and do two types of mana vials. Clay sells the best for me.) Groups are key with an enchanter. I found leveling agonizing trying to solo, even with charm. But chanty buffs are popular with just about every other class, and even charming works better with someone there to help when it breaks. Just follow all the normal group spots as you level (Kurns, PC, HHK, as mentioned). If you twink up the character to have a ton of mana and hp, you will be welcome in groups with higher characters too - I spend a lot of time in areas where we are killing red cons to me which pulls in the xp nicely, and I can do it because I have enough mana to compensate for the increased resists I get and the hp to take being hit a bit until someone in my group gets agro off of me.

Chanters get Enchant Silver at 8, Enchant Electrum at 16, Enchant Gold at 24, Enchant Platinum at 34 and Enchant Velium at 44. Then at 49 you get a few more Enchant spells to enchant metal. Recently I have gotten a lot of requests to Distill Mana which is a lvl 39 spell.
If you are looking into jewelry in order to make some money, it doesn't START really till you can sell platinum and/or velium pieces. Some gold items also sell good, but silver and electrum only sell for really low profits to really low newbie characters. I did not start to make any money untill I sold gold and platinum, so you would have to level up to at least 24, and better even 34. And yes, as stated, the only way to do that is to play the character.
On the other hand, I am a 250 Grandmaster Jeweler at lvl 42 now, and have had no problem finding chanters to enchant me a little Velium every now and then, especially in my guild.
Also, research starts at 16 and is level capped, meaning you can only advance in research 5 points per level just like any other non-tradeskill skill like casting skills. If you are looking to combine high-level spells, forget it. You need to level up to be able to do that.

If you're getting into jewelry to make money, I'd just advise you to stop now. The stuff that really sells is difficult to make, and without JCM (level 59 + at least 18 AA's, not counting the AA's to purchase it), will cause you a lot of failures.
Research is level capped. You cannot get to Research 200 until level 55.
If you want to make money enchanting shtuff, you can take your pick of what level you want to work towards. The most valuable are the level 49 enchant ore spells. However, you can certainly enchant clay, the lower metals, and the lower mana vials for a small profit (provided there are buyers...).

as far as the research portion goes i was only planning on getting lvl 25 or 30 and then getting research maxed and leave it there. metals on the other hand i jsut wnated something where i can make a little profit and offer more wares on my trader toon so ppl can buy more from me when they peruse my wares. silver isn't worht it but gold and electrum sell enough of a profit to keep me happy. clay and mana vials aren't bad either

If you have the spare cash to twink, then never under estimate straight forward melee killing for casters below lvl 30.
Pick up a Tolapumj Robe (36% haste, caster only, no lvl rec) and a good weapon. Then deck up on AC, HP and regen. Even tank for your lowly pet. Utilize all the melee advantages they gave to caster items (i.e. better haste, better dmg vs dly weapons) and of course your own AC and haste buffs. Just forget about your mana bar.
Then you can solo your way to lvl 30 without having to hate playing a chanter. Because you are really playing a hybrid.

Its very easy to tweak an enchanter and PL them through the mid 20's, having a druid friend cast a DS on you and the pet makes it insanely easy. The problem, however, is you wind up not able to cast a spell when you need it without fizzling your mana away.
I have found its better to simply get in a Paludal Cavern group around level 15 and staying there to around 25 (what, maybe a day or two for this?). Then, head over to Mistemoore and do the same thing to the mid 30's. They have added an experience bonus to that zone and its the new PC for mid 20 to mid 30 characters. I went from 26 to 29 in a group in three hours. And, by staying in a group you end up casting the spells you need to go up in skills.
After 34 though, you have to decide just how far you want to go up. First its 39 for distill mana, then its 44 for enchant velium, then 49 for mithril, then 52 for Clarity II, then heck, might as well go to 60 for KEI, hehe. Its a vicious cycle.Yitara
