  • Thoughts on raising JC from 191 to 250

    Hiya,

This is my first post on the is board. Just started JC on my 31 enchanter and thanks to info on this site I have made it to 191 without any trouble. The question that I have is, now that the metal and gems are getting expensive, what are some of the best ways to defray some of the cost. I have read that from here on its too expensive to pursue unless there are buyers. On the other hand if you don't just grind it out you may never reach GM.

Can I get some of your thoughts on this?

    Thanks,
    John

Broadly speaking, tradeskills are a love and a goal, not a means to an end. Hard to make money from JC these days for sure. I suggest you earn money your favorite way, then spend a chunk on JC when you can (balancing you need for spells and such). For sanity I suggest having enough for 20 attempts or more before you try a session. Then just work away at it.

If watching pp, be sure to enchant the metal. With good cha you will get a lot of your money back from NPC selling. I seem to remember I could buy enough for 16 attemps with the profit from selling 20 attempts.

The best way to make money to feed your new habit depends on your server and level. There are several threads here that give suggestions. As a 31 enchanter, I'd suggest farming tradeskill supplies such as spiderling silks (feerott), or swirling shadows (shade weavers - you aretoo low for TS). Or perhaps even pick up iron oxide or permafrost crystals (you can invis into perma easy). Or perhaps Stein of Moggok still sells on your server. Perhaps you can even sell enchanted metal or mana vials.

If I was you I would definatly wait until I could enchant platinum before continuing. With enchanted items it costs you very little to skillup (especially if you use a geerlok and have max int and generally work only on the next most trivial item)

However if you can sell in the bazzar then there are a few items that will sell well these will differ from server to server but generall :

      Jasper Wis items
      Jade AC/HP/Man items
      Nihilite items

You may even want to wait until you can enchant velium before skilling up, if only because you can finance yourself by selling jade and jasper velium items.

Alternativly make Gold nihilite earrings and finance your skill ups now.
But remember you wont get to do much with your new 250 skill until you can enchant the metals yourself

I guess it depends why you want 250 jewelcraft.
If you are doing it to get the GM trophy then it may be worth going for it now. If you are doing it so you can make jewelery then you may as well wait until you get to the level to enchant the bars.

gold/nihilite and gold polished/quartz bes way to go and you can still skillup this way i make about 1k a day with just those two and you can through some gold/geode in there but those sell slower and for less profit.
