  • I raised my JC from 0 to 110 for under 500 plat

Hello, I just tried something out on a whim, and I wanted to let some folks know of an extremely cheap and effective way to get up ones skill - Lacquered gems.

I started with the Jewelcraft tasks in GoD, because, heck, you can get all of your tradeskills to 54 for free, not even have to invest a starting point, just -click-, -click-, -click- your way out of half of the silver jewelry. Then, I looked up any help on JC that I could put to good use (my main is a 62 SK - I'm not going to sell a thing, I just want that FT3 shawl). So, I was looking up how to make a Planar Stein, so that I could get the Stealth Manual for my bard alt, and I saw that part of the combine needs a Lacquered Peridot. "Cool," I think to myself, my pottery's 160-something (thank you, Big Boat, for giving me a place to make Casserole Dishes, where I'm NOT KOS, LOL), I should be able to ... wait, you make it in a Jewelry Kit? Intrigued, I looked up Lacquer, to see what else they had - BINGO! There are six different Lacquered gem recipes, most trivial at 110, but there's one at 115, one at 120, and one at 128(!).

I went to the Calculator, and figured it out - three backpacks should get me straight from 54 to 110, and maybe more, and the gems would be the biggest cost. Plus, to top it off, I could use the product to work up my pottery skill with Ceramic Bamns, which let all of the Pure Caster (i.e. Gate-using) classes cast a mana-less DD, which makes it an always-useful trinket for them. As I write, I'm actually still skilling up, but I've only spent 500 pp so far, and haven't tried to sell my results, either. I probably won't either - every bit of help to get into the "1750" club helps, ha-ha! As I continue with it, I'll make another post, with more details. I just wanteed to make sure that people got the word as soon as I could let them know.
Gravity: It's not just a good idea, it's THE LAW!

You know, this may be a viable option for you, but I have to ask some questions...

What level are you? what is your base wis/int ?

Your skill ups will be more spread appart if you are a lower end character without your maximum wis/int, considering that the stats are a major part of your skill up odds.

250 in brewing with a trophy! All other trade skills? /sigh don't ask.
    Magelo to see my junk.
