  • quickest plat

I am a 10th lvl wood elf ranger, I am trying to find out the quickest way to earn some plat to buy the stuff I need on the FV server. I have no skills right now, what is the fastest way to earn plat with tradeskills. What route should I take for this?

I have heard baking fish rolls is ok, anything better?

    Making plat with tradeskills...

    Celestial [Essence] and Heady Kiolas:
Pretty cheap, easy to make (the CE is no-fail), and people will pay for the convenience of not doing these wrist-numbing sub-combines.

    Leather Padding:
Not hard to make, requires farmed ingredients you can get at your level (and get exp, maybe). Smiths will often pay well to avoid the farming and subcombines.

Making Plat from Tradeskills... Spider Silk, Spiderling Silk, Hides/Furs/Pelts with "quality" in the name, various foraged items, Swirling Shadows, etc.

Many tradeskillers will pay for these items rather than farm them, and there is a good profit possibility.

Hope this helps as a starting point.

Healblade, I think you mean Celestial Essence. Other than that, all of these ideas are great ones. I still make money selling some of this stuff myself.

foraging is definately the way to go. pretty much any ribbon supply goes for 15 to 35pp each. plant shoots market price is usually lower then high elf berries [ from lesser fay ] due to higher supply but any will make you a few k easy.

if you are on luclin I'm looking for foragers pst

Do the subcombines that require easy to get items, but just take a ton of clicking.

Make Fillets and Fillets in Cream then sell them in bulk in Bazaar. You'll get a lot of the meat just by xp work (Bear, Wolf, Lion, Mammoth) and get your baking skill up to 162 that way. There is never anyone selling the completed Fillets in Cream in Bazaar and I am soooo tired of doing all that clicking to make Halas Pies that I would pay fairly well for completed combines myself, so I'm sure many others would too.

Fillets in Cream cost about 4 gp per to make not counting failures. I'd bet you could sell out as fast as you can make them if you sold them for 3-5 pp each. Might even do better if you found someone that was willing to contract out your services to provide them with xxx number of final combines.

Can do this for lots of trade skills. You'll not only earn money as you do it but you'll raise your skills to respectable levels while doing it.

East Karana is a very popular zone for trade skill supplies. It’s also a good zone for leveling, as you can run to the bridge and zone if you get into trouble. You can kill gorge hounds for wolf meat and pelts. You can kill carrion spiders for spider silks and you can kill the snakes for their eggs. The crag spiders are also good for silk drops, often better than the carrion spiders, but they are higher level and have a nasty poison so you may want to wait on those. Once you can kill the griffawns, they are under cons in my opinion; you can sell their wings on your vendor. And while in the zone, be sure to forage as much as possible. You can forage tealeaves and these too can be sold in the bazaar for a decent price.

Another fairly easy way to make a few plat is via wisps. While farming trade skill supplies kill any wisps you come across. Sell the light stones to the vendors but save the greater light stones. You can give these to one of the gypsies in North Karana. In turn she will give you a book/container, so make sure you have an empty pack slot. You can then sell the book back for about 9pp. I’d suggest testing the prices among the different gypsies. I found some gave me better prices than others. And always use a couple of ruby encrusted steins, +25 charisma each, when buying and selling from NPC vendors. They are usually cheap to buy in the bazaar, since many people use them to skill up on pottery, and the money you save can add up very quickly.

            Best of luck,

Opal encrusted steins. The star ruby encrusted steins are the ones used for the POTC earring quest. (250 potter who spent 40k getting there :P doh!)

If you want to earn pp, don't even look at tradeskills. Farm the components and sell them.

Lesser shades in Shadeweaver's Thicket are around your level I believe. About 1 in 3 or 4 drops swirling shadows, which will most likely sell very well at 50pp each.

Start doing tradeskills if you enjoy doing tradeskills. If you want to make pp, I would look elsewhere. You will need to invest a ton of pp and time before tradskills can make you good pp.

Just a note on East Karana. I did a lot of solo work there from 17th to 25th level back in the day.

You will probably not be able to solo there at all until you hit 15th level or so. At that point you can get to the NK bridge and CAREFULLY try to hunt the lions for pelts. You will want to be careful as they are social, and having a Lion Patriarch or Lioness Matriarch add can take you down easily.

You can also try Carrion Crawlers at this level. Carrion Crawlers live on a diet of lost hobbits it would seem, as many will also drop Halfling Parts when killed in addition to silk, legs, and whatever else they drop.

Gorge Hounds are harder than all the lions and Carrion Spiders. They are almost as hard as Crag Spiders. You might want to wait till you are 20th to solo those. Gorge Hounds to not drop usable pelts. Dark Stalkers are about the same level of difficulty and also have no useful drops.

There is the occasional sighting of Broon (named Cyclops), leave him alone till you are 25th level or so. You will also see Hill Giants every now and then, as well as Tarbul Earthstrider (named Hill Giant). Give these a WIDE berth.

With that said, EK can be a source of fun and profit for 10 level or so if you want. Killing the spiders for silks and the Lions for pelts will net you serious pp. If you add in a trip to hunt spiderling silks (Feerott or Innothule swamp for instance), you can make Leather Paddings from the MQ pelts and increase your profits.

                  Good luck to you!

Sorry about the ruby encrusted stein slip. I realized my mistake last night when I reach into my pack and pulled out my NOT ruby encrusted steins. The charisma steins are indeed the opal encrusted steins. Back in the heyday of mature cheese I bought my first opal stein for 125pp and was pleased at getting such a good deal. Today it’s not unusual for me to find them for 20pp or less in the bazaar. So investing just a few plats for a couple of OPAL encrusted steins can save you a lot of money, once you get into the habit of equipping them.

Another thing to do when you have a little plat built up, is to look at the prices of diamonds, and raw diamonds in the bazaar, if they are selling below 190pp you can resell them to the npc merchants for a profit (you won't make a lot of money that way, but it's a nice quick turnaround).
