Blue Diamonds

Has anyone else noticed the price of blue diamonds droping rapidly the past couple of weeks?

On Brell I use to buy them up off vendors or certain people who always sell to me for 300p so I could resell them in bazaar for 425 which was still very cheap.
At that price they would always sell in a day or 2.

Now people are selling them in bazaar as low as 240 and there are hundreds under 350.
I have mine at 399 and not selling so I will just keep them.

Is it just my server or all over?

They've dropped on Emarr, too, most going for under 300.

Been that way for months and months on Stormhammer. I can pull a stack of the bazaar merchants at 262pp any time I feel like I need blue diamonds for something.

Hello-

Well - i am also on Brell - and have noticed the same recently. I merchant-dive quite often - and always bought the BD's whenever I saw them. Usually - I just hoarded them until I needed a plat-injection - but recently when I tried to sell a whole stack - it was no-go. They are on my trader now - but Im not liking the price.

Not sure what may have caused this - except for possibly better gear becoming more readilly available then those made with BD's.

Part of the problem is that in PoP, all you get are diamond variations. BDs, RDs, Diamonds... The end result though, is that jacinths and black sapphires are now rarer than all getout and the price on those 3 have dropped to rock bottom.

If jacinths and black sapphires were added to the drop tables replacing some of the dia/bd slots (keep the raws as it is, as those are used in plethoras of tradeskill things) that'd help balance out the prices i think...either that or floor the market on jacs and bss...either way i'd be happy, i got one more trophy to make and can't find a jacinth to save my life. I won't even bother looking for BD's on traders. I can buy stacks from merchants for 262pp each on Quellious.

What merchants are best for this? PoK and/or PoT, I assume. Any others?

I think as I am typing this, every merchant in the Bazaar has at least 1 BD on him and over 70% in PoK. I would guess that 100% in PoT have them as well. BDs are very abundant (which is good since I am making the BD armor now )

Well I grind up a stack of BD's a week into powder, so I'm doing my best to keep the BD economy in line.

But I'd say (a) more and more people hunting in PoP, (b) more and more BD's drop. And many people don't bother to sell in bazaar, so they go to vendors and dump them. And then the tradeskillers buy them off the vendors for 262pp each, and ignore the sellers in bazaar at 350pp each. So the sellers start dropping prices, trying to unload them.

BD price is still in the 350-500 range. I think it might have something to do with the fact that there are multiple Leatherfoot Haversack merchants selling the bags.

Seriously, I am basically the only seller of wood elf bd cultural tailored armor on Xev (in bazaar, that is, I am sure others might provide them for their guilds). Others might sell a piece or two, but I normally have 8-12 pieces up at a time. I have sold **1** piece in the last 3 weeks. This is quite surprising to me, personally. I think the pieces are pretty nice for the most part, and I have cut the prices rather substantially lately. All the reasons I hear for the decline of cultural don't really apply here, as tae ew had been widely available even when I was selling well, and the ornate drops aren't nearly common enough to make up the difference.

Anyhow, that's a bit off-topic, but I was able to cut the prices partly due to the ability to by BD's consistently off merchants. Since I hadn't been selling the cultural pieces, I finally sold the 2+ stacks of BD's and stack of celestial temper I had stashed away on my trader. They went rather quickly (375 for bd, 440 for temper), and gave me the money I needed to make a couple of purchases I wanted.

Why do people still buy BD's for 400+ each? I think some of it is that merchant farming is tedious. I am probably as avid a one as can be found, but when talking to others, even some tradeskillers, it seems that they think it too difficult to find BD's or jacinths or even black sapphires on merchants. *shrug* That's fine with me... gives me something else to sell.

ps - shortly after PoP, and even moreso after LoY, BD prices fell on Xev. Tier 1 zones drop blue diamonds a good bit, and of course these places were camped like crazy (b/c, hey, they were brand new), and even in Dulak you can get some BD's.

Well they are selling as low as 200pp now in bazaar.
Many well under 300pp

I always buy any BDs i see on vendors. Bad habit, i know. =)

I recently used/sold all the BDs i had saved up (used for tempers, sold for 300p ea).... im back up to 7 stacks in the bank. Wheee.

The BD market died about 6 months ago. Where have you been?
