  • Help needed with Erudite newbie armor quest. Is it broken?

There are some posts about this in the quest section, but very few and no real answers to the problems, so I am posting here in the hopes someone who doesn't bother with the quest section will be able to help.

Has ANYONE managed to complete the Erudite cater newbie robe quest? If so, exactly what did you use and where did you find it? As others have pointed out, the giant rat tooth seems to be nonexistent. In addition, I am unsure whether I really need to use spider venom or a spider venom sac.

I talked to someone in game last night who said they had actually made a robe. She said she used simply "a rat tooth" rather than a giant one and that she used spider venom, made by the poison making tradeskill, rather than a spider venom sac.

Ah-hah, thought I, I will go buy back one of the 60-70 rat teeth I have sold to NPC vendors, make some spider venom and have a robe. However, when I put the items in my container, I got a DNC. I tried using a spider venom sac instead of a spider venom. Another DNC.

Help, anyone?! Getting more than a little frustrated here. Is this quest broken?

There seems to always be at least one component that's much more rare than the others on those newbie quests.

Before PoP I was doing the Kelethin Druid quest. I got most of the pieces eaisly, and only needed a burned out lightstone for my boots. I know I had see willow wisps before - but for the next four days - not a single ranger (and I had some pretty high lvl rangers helping) could find one willow wisp on track. And of course, when we finally found on, it never droped anything. Four days of hunting every evening for hours and nothing.

I finally ended up getting a port to WC and finding a wisp in EC, but I was still irritated that I had to leave my homelands for a newbie quest.

Good luck on the giant rat tooth!

Cross-posting is bad. It breaks up conversations and clutters the forums. Please don't do it.
