Well, I use a friend's chanter to enchant adamantine all the time, so I was first very disappointed. This would have saved me just a ton of time.

But, then I swear I got such a big kick turning it over in my mind that the GM could actually not just say that 5 for 1 is working as intended, but REPEAT it once he'd had a chance to see how his own words looked right out in front of him.

Oh, man. Either he was just enjoying tormenting you and seeing how long it would take you to shut up and go away, or he's prodigiously hapless. I'm not sure which one is funnier, but it's pretty funny either way.

This just goes back to my rant in primal scream that no one in Sony is testing things for themselves - how hard is it for them to have one guy who's perma logged into the test server with a list of spells, items, drops, etc who's sole job is to walk through the list and actually make sure everything works as intended?

Let's see, they said they put in frog cultural armor - hmm, the recipe book is missing, none of the temper components drop and the recipes all give a don't exist message when combined in the forge.

Next up, mass enchant spells, hmm, the non-stackable ores only give back one ore instead of 5 - we seem to be 0 for 2 so far today.

Well, I cast Mass Enchant Adamantite twice because the first time I received 1 for 5, I thought I did something horribly wrong. I had nothing but 5 Large Bricks in my inventory, and received only 1 Enchanted. I searched the ground and my inventory several times before I tried casting for a second time after purchasing more Lrg. Bricks. Well, I casted a 3rd time after Hemlock "nearly convinced" me that the spell was working as intended. I had the same results as earlier, and asked him if he was casting the particular spell in my case. He claimed he was and that it works "as intended" for him. I had my share of ranting to him that this is impossible and stated otherwise in the patch message, etc.

His responses slowly took longer and longer to come, until eventually he just end up ignoring me (I suppose or went to feed the hamsters). I am starting to think that maybe he was enjoying the free entertainment of torturing me, and driving me up the wall.

GM Client / Avatar != Customer Client / Avatar

Anyone, besides me, remember how EXTENSIVELY they had tested Alchemy and PROVEN that it was WORKING AS INTENDED and we were all just on some kind of drugs to not see it working perfectly fine?

Next time ask them not to test it with their GM character, but to wait till they get home, log in on a live server and have a guildmate test it for them.

GM-Hemlock as Oleander (no, I don't know Hemlock I'm making up a name based on "Hemlock" so don't go to your server and hunt anyone by that name down and say "Itek says you are GM Hemlock in disguise, clone me some plat buddy" ok?)

Oleander: "Hey Itek, I need some Adamantite/Steel/Berrillium/Mithril enchanted... you got the new spells?"
Itek: "Sure lemme mem it... got 5 Steel ?"
          Oleander: "here you go"
          Itek: *casts*
Itek: "Hmm... bugged spell. Here's the only brick I got back, it ate the other 4. Guess I will just cast the single version until they fix it."
Oleander: "??... um... yeah... darn SOE... releasing buggy spells and stuff... oh my... lost track of time... gotta go..."

The GMs do play on the live servers. Some of your guildmates might actually be GMs. (heck your best friend from the west coast might BE Hemlock, you never know)

This is the problem. To "test" things they have to BE able to test them. There are exactly TWO ways to do that. Actually play the game to the point that you can do things. Cheat codes - cheat modes.

Either they have to have a REAL LIVE level 49+ enchanter character to cast the spell...

Or they use the "GM Mode allows access to all spells / skills without a real check" system.

          Guess which one they use?

"It's working as intended for me" should not be interpreted as "I don't know what I'm talking about" ... it should be read "When I use the cheat code to do it everything works fine."

Alchemy. Think back to Alchemy. They have gotten a LOT more responsive to "no, really, it's actually broken, please believe us" comments in the last 4 years.

Being out 12 hunks of cultural metal is painful. I'd just use the single enchant spells till they either fix it or make the results stackable. (Pretty much a toss up on what they will do. On one hand recoding to make the summoned duplicates stack on the cursor, or bypass the cursor, will be a pain... While on the other hand they probably feel stackable smithing supplies would be unbalenced.)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

all these posts but i see noone has even thought of the implications of what this spell screwup means.
ok follow me here a sec.
well the messed up the mass enchant steel, adam, beril, ect. now knowing
they cant fix the code for putting multiples of the same nonstackable item on the cursor as they have stated the only other alternative is to make the bricks stackable. We all know this. but i have not heard anyone say

"HAY IF THEY MAKE THE BRICKS STACKABLE DOES THAT MEAN THEY WILL <<<<FIX>>> THE CONVERSION RATES FOR BLOCKS AND BRICKS"

(crosses fingers, toes, anything else i can bend)
so unless they are holding something back in the gamecode that they
have not said it looks like they may be forced to give us our conversion
rates also they they have so long said they cant do!!!!!

            just an observation

Please keep in mind that the GMs are just trying to be loyal to their company. In other words if Sony hasn't given them the "Hey something isn't right with such and such..." Then thats prolly whats going on. They can not really control these things, only listen to what their told. Doesn't help that thier information is logged either...

Have some patience, they will get to it and get it fixed.

Off topic, but one of the checks for interruption is how far you've moved from the spot where you started casting. You only have one chance of channelling through movement, so this has to be checked at the end of the cast.

Folks, STOP with the GM-bashing, SoE-bashing, etc. in this thread, as well as the rants and raves, k?

This is NOT the Primal Scream forum, and even there, the bashing is not a happy thing.

I don't want to have to lock this, since it's important for folks to know that it a) is broken, and b) is being addressed.

                    Settle down, please.

Any idea on what SoE might do to fix the bug. Make those bricks stackable or allow you to hold all 5 on your cursor? Personally, I am in favor of making them stackable. It's hard enough collecting components for Shadow Temper, only to enchant 1,000 bricks to convert those and on.

I still want my 12 bricks back

In regard to the complaints about how thoroughly these were tested:

There was a thread on these forums mentioning the introduction of these spells on test (from Lucy information), but it fairly quickly got moved to Primal Scream and I missed it. I don't usually check Primal Scream for substantive tradeskill related news. Perhaps I wasn't the only one who missed it. I also never saw a reference to this change on the Test Server boards.

I saw the new spells appear on an enchanter I created and testbuffed on July 3 and posted that information here; someone noted that this was old news, referencing the thread in Scream, and the new thread was promptly locked as duplicate information (understandably, I guess).

I had created another enchanter less than 5 days before, and the spells weren't there, so it appears that the spells started appearing on testbuff chars not much more than a week before they went live.

I searched the vendors in chanters hometowns and in PoK and never found them. Although someone found them on the prod servers fairly soon after the live patch, remember that you then had multiple people on multiple high population servers looking for them based on the information in a patch message, vs. the low population test server with a not so clearly announced change. So, I don't know if anyone on test ever knew where to buy the higher level spells.

Although I tested out a couple of the spells, remember that my testbuff char only had spells through level 25 and thus did not have any of the spells for non-stackable items (nor would a testbuffed char have had any of the imbues, btw).

Bottom line is: it is entirely possible (and understandable) that no one (other than devs) ever cast Mass Enchant Adamantite on Test before these spells went live.

I don't necessarily think it is a problem with it summoning multiple, non-stackable items. It just looks to me like the spell was implemented wrong. Look at how they show on on Lucy (Mass Enchant Mithril). It shows the correct amount of components needed, but not the correct amount of items summoned. I think it needs to be done more like Pouch of Quellious where each of the items it summons shows up on a different line instead of just one. I think the problem is that it is trying to summon all five at once like it is a stacking item instead of summoning them seperately.

I only play on Test server and I tried this spell when it first came out and found it was broke and I did a /bug report and a petition on it so I know it was reported before it went live. I know others on Test that also reported it.
Sadly it was ignored and not fixed before it was put on live servers and it is still broke on Test.

It seems they are letting more and more bugs go live even tho we have reported them on Test and when the bugs get live those that play on Test get blamed for it. All we can do is report the bugs after that if it gets fixed or not is out of our hands. We're just normal players like the people on the live servers.

So it was bug reported...thenl there is no excuse for this to have gone live...but whats new? Stuff like this happens all the time in EQ, sadly.

Does anyone know what the fix is supposed to be, or when they are going to implement it?

The fix is supposed to be that we like it or lump it, and it has already been implemented.
