  • No-fail combines

I've been doing tradeskills for a while but am still confused on no-fail combines: Are these in fact restricted to items with trivials <= 21? If not, can anyone point me at a no-fail recipe with a trivial > 21? Are items with trivials <= automatically no-fail?

    Thanks in advance.

On the site, recipes with trivial listings including a <, <=, >, or >= refer to not knowing the exact trivial of an item.

For example, Blue Diamond Powder (recipe at http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_pottery.htm )

This recipe requires a blue diamond, so few people are willing to risk losing a valuable item just to see if they can succeed on the item and then determine whether the item is trivial at their skill.

In this example, the trivial is "<=93", so someone with 93 pottery skill successfully made this item and received a trivial message and reported it here. For all we know, the trivial could be 93. Perhaps the trivial is 21 or maybe 82... we just don't know.

If you're adventurous, feel free (and encouraged) to test this recipe at lower skill levels. If you succeed, it will inform you if it was a trivial combine (you can no longer gain skill...) If you fail, we cannot garner information.

As far as no-fail combines, they are generally low trivial combines, such as restringing bows, silk swatch/thread, and some quest recipes. They are almost always noted as no-fail on the site.

I personally do not know of a no-fail combine with trivial greater than 21. Recipes with trivial <=21 that you can fail: Clump of Dough, Wedding Cake Slices, Base Arrow, Base Bow, low-end silver jewelry, metal bits, etc.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

      Hmm, Metal Bits...

I used those as a skill up from 1 to 18, and I don't think I ever failed. Makes me wonder if they may be a no-fail combine?

Has anyone (who reads this) failed at making metal bits? (Who knows, maybe I was just extremely lucky then)

One tailoring cobmine that is not listed as No Fail but I do not think I have ever failed is skinning hides from one quality level to a lesser level.

The only failures I've ever had, I think, are when I double skin something, but that's human error.

Does anyone else think this should be declared No Fail?

I've failed it before I think. RARE tho, even with my lower skill tailors. It might have a skill mod or something to it.

I think that is similar to making silk threads and silk swatches. We get the occasional claim of from someone saying they failed, but the majority of us find it a no-fail combine.

Having double skinned several hundred HQ pelts down to low (help! get these tailors off me),as well as at least 500+ MQ to LQ, I can say I've never had one failure.

I'd say no-fail on skinning down.

Some quest combines can get you skill ups as well, and are no fail. Cabbage Earing is one.

Silk swatches of any type appear to be no fail, I made 4 stacks of Firesilk swatches without failing, did 2 stacks of nightmare silk swatches no fails as well.

The combine on the bowl for the ranger epic is a no fail combine, and gives a skill increase. That is how I got 1 skill in Pottery. hehe

Have skinned down pelts literally thousands of times. Never failed, even at fairly low skill.
