  • Hotkeyed Skills

I use hotkey links to right and left turn for my sense heading and foraging skills (and I daily bless the person who showed me how to do that). I also keep a 10-slot container in one of my hotkey slots so I can put away foraged items without opening my inventory.

I noticed in another thread here that someone said they had tracking linked to moving straight ahead. I never considered hotkeying tracking because it seemed like it would be a nuisance and distracting, but maybe I'm missing something here.

What skills do you guys keep hotkeyed? Any tips on how to use them? If you have tracking hotkeyed, how do you use it?

If you hotkey Tracking, and keep the track window "minimized" and out of sight, you never notice it.

Actually, I don't play a tracker class for a main, but if I did what I would do is set sense heading for one direction arrow key and tracking for the other, like sense heading for left turn and tracking for right...I tend to turn autorun on when I'm running long distances so having stuff mapped to the up arrow really doesn't help me much.

My bard and rogue have a hotkey that is a macro (disarm and sense traps, etc). I even put monk's mend on a turn key for same reason. If I am concentrating enough, I tie instill doubt with monk on a turn key. Just have to fix a safe target once I zone in and remove it when I'm shopping, etc.

my warrior has a macro set up like this

          /attack off
          /loc
          /do ability 2 (beg)
          /attack on
/do ability 3 (kick attack) not acactly sure if its "do ability" but it's kick attack

I have my sense heading bound to the key that makes me walk forward

with this macro, i've gotten a lvl 36 warriors begging skill over 120. don't remember the exact number. I've begged an axe out of a forest giants hand in the middle of a fight, a sword out of a drovings hand in the middle of a fight.

if you notice, the attack is turned off when the macro is activated, this will allow the beg to work if you are close enought to the target, then it turn on the attack. This will allow you to press it once to beg, then if you get distracted for what ever reason, light a cig, spill your drink, your toon will continue attacking. I usually reactivate the macro when i can kick again.

When my warrior gets some AA abilities, like area taunt, i'll probably put that where /loc is.

As a First person shooter from long ago I have always had AWSD set up as movement keys. Every one of my characters has had AD (Left/Right) set to Sense Heading. My Ranger also had tracking set to A and forage set to D. You will max those skills in no time at all and always keep them maxed when you hit next level.

I have never set a key to begging as I heard it never works (nerf?) but I may have to try it now.

Beg is additional aggro, too, so that's a very good thing for a warrior to be doing just for that extra bit of aggro.

LOL on begging the axe out of the giant's hand.. that's a classic.

/loc is a good one in there, too, since knowing your /loc at all times is definately a good thing, esepcially in unknown areas where you might die suddenly.

Note: AoE taunt has a long refresh, so it's only really for emergencies. I'm unaware of any warrior AAs that are activatable that refresh very quickly (Though I'm all for a Taunt AA that works like regular taunt but gives additional aggro)

I linked all 4 direction arrows to sense heading. Very easy except it took 4 hotbuttons for a while.

Another key to add to the mix is disarm, using the same /doability command. Just that wee bit more aggro...

Hope I don't sound the dunce, but asking for a bit of help. I have long used scripts to do sense heading etc.. /doability type scripts. I have never known how to map say sense heading to a direction key, could someone give me a quick run down on that? Sounds like it would be very useful for the next alt I create. Thanks

                      1. go to the options screen (perhaps Ctrl O?) and find the Keyboard tab. there's a dropdown box; choose Macros.

                      2. where it gives you the option of setting 9 and 0 in your hotkey bank, click the appropriate slot and press LEFT arrow for 9 and RIGHT arrow for 0.

-- be warned that Macroing things up like this will make ALL 9 and 0 slots in ALL hotkey banks for ALL charactors on this account on this computer attach themselves to LEFT and RIGHT arrows.

                      3. Go to the Actions box, and find the little square that you set to be Sense Heading. drag this box to the 9 slot on your hotkey bank. drag Forage to 0.

now, every time you turn Left, you will SH, and every time you turn right, you will Forage.

at least that's how i was told.
i screenshotted the moment when i got SH 200. i was so happy. it allows me to show up as an arrow on my loy maps, not just a little dot.

i have some macro button on my monk that links Feign and Bind Wound, for when i'm working up those skills in pok. i haven't played the monk in a while, but it might go:
                      /doability *BW
                      /pause 600
                      /doability *FD

i put the pause in there to give the BW time to work, before the FD kicks in.
of course, all this is contingent upon me finding some place high enough for my monk to jump off of that will do a significant amount of damage, heh.

                      hope anything helps.

You change to an arrow at 195 actually.
