  • Sudden Intrest?

Is it me, or is there a sudden rise in the "How can I raise xx skill fast, how can I GM all skills, how much plat to I have to spend to GM them all" kinds of vague questions?

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there are suddenly a lot more people asking these questions. What's with the (seemingly) sudden intrest?

      Two things.

One is people may be getting around to do the shawl quests with a caster when they previously played a melee or are just starting them.

Two. PoP player made items are not bad and sell well. More people want to cash in on the trade skill money. Also since skill trades are a hot item in PoP, people may be antisipating that the next expansion will continue the trend.

Anticipating, indeed. I'm sure part of it is that SOE is making a big deal about how much tradeskill stuff is going to be in the new expansion. Call it pre-emptive power gaming.

              2 things

              - Aid Grimel quest
              - Players having finished AA points (you'd be surprised how many they are) and are looking for something else to do.

elemental planes armour is what has driven the new interest around the people I know. All it took was stone bow and it was on.

I think that's the main appeal of Everquest.
With every accomplishment comes someone who's already accomplished that and the next thing.

It's like having a job in the real world, only a lot less time between raises.

Hehe.. This was actually the first thought on my mind. That's probably the only reason I'm doing this. AA completely maxed and there's nothing left to do. Already GM 4, nearing 5 tradeskills in the past few weeks alone.

And yes... Tailoring already finished, and smithing is the 'nearing' 5th now. =)

                        1) The Aid G PoP quest is forcing all the ubers to GM all thier tradeskills and even the most patient of tradeskillers in those guilds is getting sick of having to hold these people's hands every skill point along the way, so they are sending them here.

                        2) Folks are still doing the Coldain shawl.

                        3) (this is a theory - I wouldn't bring it up if I knew of one) There's one or more juicy tradeskill exploit bug which requires GM level skill that's been found but not caught/gone public yet and folks are desperate to exploit it while they can.

                        4) Folks have had too many tradeskillers tell them "then make it yourself" when we refuse to do combines for their raw materials or sell them finished products for a rawhide boot and three fish scales.
                        Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

I finished the Aid Grimel quest this afternoon and there are a lot of other people in my guild currently working on the quest.

One thing I have noticed is that people tend to do the easier trade skills first and leave smithing and tailoring for last.

I think you'd see a lot less of a trade skill frenzy if people worked on the skills in order (smithing being the first skill needed for the earring) and learned up front if they really have the motivation and desire to follow the quest all the way though.

Edit Note: I refuse to hold people's hands doing trade skills. I will offer advice and make suggestions but I also make them learn to use EQtraders as a resource.

Aid Grimmel is really popular in the uber guilds and these are the sort of people with alot of spare play time.
