Nothing special for routine combines, but for those that are particularly important to me, I:

    Place everything into the container.
Double check the recipe in my notes.
Double check that the items in the container match my notes. (Old habit from DNC's eating ingredients.)
Triple check that it all looks and seems like it should.
(Optional: send tells to friends and/or guild who have surely been hearing about my progress to this point.)
Cover my eyes with left hand.
Peek between fingers and hover pointer over Combine button.
    Take a deep breath.
Cover eyes again and after sufficiently dramatic pause, press mouse button.
Very, very carefully peek between fingers again to see if I succeeded.
(Optional: advise friends and/or guildies of result.)

If i have Spirit of the Eagle on, ill also hit combine on the 'bottom' of the bounce.
Splunge, if I have SoE on, I *always* click if off before doing any combine(s).

With big important stuff, I always try to clear my mind and then wait until I feel something that says "now!". Usually my adrenaline levels (will I succeed?!? I MUST!) disturb my mindclearing ... but there have been a few times where I suddenly felt I *would* succeed if I clicked right at that moment, clicked, and had the item on my cursor. I've never had this feeling of *really* succeeding and then failing on the click ...

Hmm, I always have DMF on, See Invis, and always face north, and I click SOW off.
Come on guys, one more pull. What is the worst that could happen?
