Geerlok to 252 or 255 ???

I read in the FAQ that geerloks only get you to 252 skill (thus 240+geerlok is effectively a maxxed skill).

I'm curious as to where this info came from, however. I remember hearing about two different Fan Faires, one of which they said 255 the other they said 252.

How did the author of the FAQ determine that it is 252 and not 255?

It was a direct quote from a dev or three, stating that the skill cap with mods was 252. The question has been re-asked and re-confirmed several times before it went into the FAQ.
