• Want to change Grandmaster Trophy

Right now, you can tell nothing about a person's skill if they have a Grandmaster Trophy. People with skill 20 have gotten it.

I think that was not the intent.

I'd like to see a trophy that means your skill is GM. Maybe hand an NPC an Artisan's Seal, a Dairy Spoon (or whatever), and if your skill is 250 you get a True Grandmaster Trophy, while if your skill is not 250 you get your items back.

Then people would have a way of proving to others in-game that they are true GM in a skill.

What do you folks think?

I think that the Trophy should be a skill restricted combine. Not able to even attempt the combine unless your modified skill is 250+ but make the trophy itsself trivial at, say, 1.

But its a little late for those who have already made theirs.

If SOE could get the code right then let's have an Artisan Trophy that did a +mod to ALL 7 main trade skills in one item.

A 1750 club member puts a Grandmaster Trophy for each trade in a bag an NPC gives to only 1750 people and then combines to make an Artisan Trophy.

The problem with getting a trophy with a low skill is the flip side of failing items with low trivial levels. They put a cap on how much you can fail and how much you can suceed. Its around 5%.

While a skill of 250 is impressive, I wouldn't limit getting a trophy to a 250 skill. Having a skill of 240 + geerlok is functionally the same thing.

By placing the success/failure cap closer to 1%, I think it would solve a lot of problems.

The idea of an uber trophy is a great idea. It would be easy to implement.

Personally I like the idea of having trophies require 250 skill to be made/worn. You can get Geerloks and a few other skill mod items for the % if you need. Trophies are supposed to be proof of your skill and a small reward for the accomplishment.

A 1750 club member puts a Grandmaster Trophy for each trade in a bag an NPC gives to only 1750 people and then combines to make an Artisan Trophy.
Yeah, I'd definetly like something like this. It doesn't have to have the worlds greatest stats or anything, but a unique look would be cool. Even if they couldn't add +5% to all tradeskills on one item, there are other ways to do it. They could make it so you'd get the appropriate skill mod on the item when you stick it in the tradeskills kit and hit combine. For instance, sticking it in a loom would have a 5% skill mod to tailoring while putting it in a pottery wheel would add 5% to pottery.

Hang on....

I have a vague memory that the trophies were the first known skill-restricted combine? Requiring skill >= 200 to attempt?

Or am I losing my mind

This idea would not work for two reasons:
1) EVERY Recipe would have to be updated to allow for an OPTIONAL Item in the combine, which is returned (success or failure) that then modified the skill.
2) For those recipes that completely fill the tradeskill containers, there is no slot for the "optional" Artisan Trophy.

What would make more sense, and be doable, would be:
1) Artisan Trophy Effect - Summon Atrisan Satchel 10 SLOT GIANT SIZE Container , 100% Weight Reduction (LORE, NO RENT, MAGIC, NO DROP) that contains upon summoning... SEVEN (7) NO-RENT, NO DROP Grandmaster Trophies. Which are just like the original trophies, but are NO RENT. And could add another quest to the Trophy Bag Guy, that if given a Artisan Satchel (no rent with all seven trophies), he returns an Rentable Artisan Satchel (LORE, MAGIC, NO DROP, 10 Slot, Giant Size, 100% WR), so the tradeskiller has two permanent 100% WR 10 slot bags.

I'd like to see an effect along the lines of "Summon Artisan's Studio" 10 slot giant size container that allows combines from any tradeskill to be done in it. DROOL.....

NO, NO, NO... Don't try to add MORE Recipes to the mix. NO!

Don't Ask for Portable "Forges", "Pottery Wheels", "Kilns", "Brew Barrels".

STOP Trying to make a MASSIVE amount of work for coders.

Take a -small- request, that is "easy" to implement. Ask for that, and it might happen some day. Work within the current capabilities of the system, by adding an item or 10. This request you have of "combines from any tradeskill " simply will NEVER happen.

Be happy that they made Ceramic Linings and Casks Stackable. Those were simple to do. And it took them 4 years to do that.

I think tradeskill trophies should summon a container that can be used to combine recipes for that particular tradeskill. The 100% WR bag is not really all that special.

Why would this be a lot of work for coders? We already have portable tradeskill containers that are summonable by tinkering. It would, I think, be an appropriate reward for dedicated tradeskillers to have the convenience of a 10 slot forge, loom, etc. with them all the time.

I dont think thats what he's saying at all, I think he means just walk up to an empty forge stick it in and hit combine and it has the +5 smithing mod till you stick it in another trade container. That would make more sense anyway and I think its a good idea.
