  • Future of Tradeskills?

Now that casters have a speedier and less cumbersome way to memorize spells, and even entire spell sets, I think we can start asking for a similar shortcut for tradeskills. Having a pulldown menu with the recipe's your character "knows" would make tradeskills much less cumbersome. If they could also limit the pulldown menu to recipe's "known" and that you have the ingredients to make on you, it would also help.

While I can see that this would be a time saver (no more hunting through bags for all the components), I don't think Verant will ever do it, at least not in full. What they might do is add the ability to go through your bags and put all the components on your cursor. Then you could drop them into the tradeskill container.

There are problems with this - most notably that AFAIK you can't have two of the same item on your cursor at once. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

That was just rescently fixed in a patch. Can have multiples of the same item on the cursor now.

I'd like to see stackable combines implemented. For example putting a stack of water and a stack of vegetables in a brewer and get 20 vegtable oils back.

What about if you could have a set of memoried combines, maybe 8, and you could program the combo you wanted to combine in the container of choice, and at a flick of a button it took the ingredients from your backpacks and put them in the container ready for you to press the conbine button.

That would be a useful and not give the game away (you had to supply the combos).

It would streamline the tedium of tradeskilling without destroying the joy of making things

I think it would be a great idea for items which are trivial. You couldn't get skill ups doing it. It might help for some sub combines, but that's it. If there are issues of someone making too much money, than its an issue with their prices, not how quickly people can make an item. You slogg it out to get your skillups. Ease of combining is the reward for getting an item to trivial. They could even put a delay on it, just so long as you don't have to click.

I agree with fibboy's idea lets us make a stack at a time. Either on Trivialed items or I guess if you add a stack it counts as one combine meaning only one attempt at a skill point as opposed to 20 attempts if you did it singularly.

I don't have it, but I believe in the EQ version for Playstation, you open your tradeskill log book and click the recipe you wish to make. Only recipes that you have personally made before are in your log book, but you just have to click the title of the recipe and have the ingredients in your inventory and you have done your combine. I think I read it was done this way since clicking single ingredients on PS2 would be too hard. This is something I definately would love to see in our version of the game.

                    Things to make em work

The EQ Version of the "Click the Recipe Idea" could be a form of purchaseable recipe page or recipe mold (For smithing) or pattern prep sheet etc...
It could cost like 5cp for easy stuff up to several plat for upper end common gear. (Cultural should still have a non-factory assembly line feel and should be somewhat troublesome to make imho).
Then as long as you have all the gear in your backpacks, you just drop the template in the appropriate recepticle and Voila! instant combine.

Could do the same for stack combines, add a special component that allows for the Stack Combines especially on trivial items and sub-combined stuff (Metal Bits, Vegetable Oil, etc...)

If you were to do it stack at a time, would it mean if you fail you lose a stack at a time? or a calculated percentage of fails and successers?
