  • Tradeskill Trophies at 200

    I'm 200 in almost all tradeskills . . .

How difficult would it be for me to successfully create one of the Grandmaster Trophies at a skill of 200? Have any of you done it?

A lot of people will feel the same.

Trophy's are NOT trivial at 250, which means you basically have the minimum standard 5% chance of success at 200.

I personally wouldn't recommend you try it, but if you do... Good luck!

If, when you break wind, plat comes out then making trophies at 200 skill wouldn't be too bad.

If you are dirt poor and seeing 6k plat vaporize for nothing would mean another month of hunting... skill up.

People with an effective 252 (240 plus geerlok or better) skill report an average 50% success. With that skill level we made 2 trophies in 3 attempts so say its actually 67% (being generous, lot's of people will howl thinking they failed 4 - 10 times if it's actually 67%)

        67 = 252 + 52 - (trivial * .75)

then trivial is AT LEAST 316 which means that it's AT BEST 15% at 200 skill (unmodified, with geerlok it's then 25%)

There are people that have attempted and succeeded their first time well under 240. Haven't heard of one under 200.

        *waves big red flag*

        Not a good idea.

So, given the best possible scenario for a 316 trivial and 200 skill and a geerlok.... you would be HALF or less likely to succeed as someone who waited the extra 40 skill points.

Don't do it, unless you have a million plat and for some reason want a trophy in each skill.

Much cheaper to find one skill, get it to 250 and make a trophy. They all have the same stats, geerloks are cheap for the other skill modifiers, and you can only have so many summoned bags. *grin* I took Brewing as it's pretty cheap. But now that I want 250 baking ... *sigh*

Oh, and if it's 355 trivial (as a lot of us suspect) that would make it 37% or so at 252 (my wife and I would then be "lucky") and would make it 5% minimum until you reach modified skill 220. (so till you get 221 in a skill, you might as well try the combine for the trophy at skill 1)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

I am a combined 4 for 9 on my trophies. All but 1 attempt was at 240 or better raw skill + geerlok and most at 250.

Not yet, but there has been some speculation along those lines. Maybe someday they will, but I'm not counting on it. VI's mindset would be "get lots of plat out of the economy" and failed trophies sure do that!

I am 3/4 combines on trophies. The 3 successes have all been done at 220 skill+ geerlok. The one failure was at 207 skill for my Fletchers knife.

                  Trophies.

I made my trophy at 218. I did it in one try. That is not really the remarkable part. I decided to attempt it at that time, because a guildie made three seals and attempted his trophy, succeeding on the first attempt at ..... 196.

I bought the seals from him, thinking I'd have two shots at mine. I succeeded on the first attempt, and later sold the third seal to another guildie.

So, it can be done. Your chances aren't great, but if you can afford it and it is worth it to you, go for it.

I did 1/11 on my smithing trophy, with a few combines in the 220s, a few in the 230s, and at least 4 after 240 (max skill with geerlok). I don't remember the exact numbers, but those are my vague rememberances.

                    JC trophy, 1/1 (250+geer)
                    Brewing trophy, 1/3 (250+geer)
                    Pottery trophy, 1/5 (240+ +geer)
Fletching trophy, 0/3 so far (250 + geer)

Trophies are really expensive to make, either time or cash for the gems, the cost of the mana vial, and all those velium bars, (then throw in the chance of a pre-combine failure.. eep) and its really alot of money to throw away on "oh why not?" I did enough of those while smithing, that I don't plan on repeating it, and I was ready to kill the pottery vendor towards the end of my failings on the pottery trohpy.

If you are going to make everything, then I would wait for the 'no failure on low trivial items' patch that Sony is talking about. If any of the subcombines end up falling into the 'no failure' zone you will seriously reduce you chances of losing plat for the combines.

Many people have failed firing the seal which has a pretty low trivial.

I made one trophy (JC) at level 231 on first try. I know there are some people who will hate me for that but I got lucky plain and simple. I don't see the need for a trophy in everything it's redundant, flagrantly expensive and as any true tradeskiller knows, Risking 6K plat for no gain (ok MAYBE a skill point?) is ludicrous.

At 239 + geerlok (251) I have failed 2 times. And frankly I wont try again til I've bought some better gear for myself .. not gona trash more than 6k on this for now.

If I am remembering correctly I am 4 for 12 on my trophies, but that includes some failures on the wheel/kiln. Probably more like 4/8 on the final combine.
