  • Tradeskilling on Stromm server

I was just wondering as I ( level 13 ranger of tunare) am looking for a decent source of income. AS of now, poor me only found morning dew ( 1pp each!? ) and cinnamon sticks ( 1pp each!?!) as pure profit. I was just wondering, is there any good source of income , either from selling to merchants or players , that is accessible to me , wich means that is below 150 skill?

Secondly, how much should i sell the morning dew and the cinnamon sticks (still in Stromm) ?

It's usually something you should discuss on your server-specific board.

Morning Dew is super important to High-Elven Smiths. It's also very important to Wood Elven Fletchers.

IMHO, it's better to make allies and join a group, guild or community of Tradeskillers. This way you can maximize your own potential and help others succeed as well.

          Cinnamon Sticks

For the longest time, I was paying 1pp per cinnamon stick, but then I started running into people that wanted more than that, and they were quite rude about it as well. So I stopped advertising to buy this item.

I may start up again, but it gets really frustrating when the jerks are monitoring /ooc or /auction and really feel a need to make it much harder on tradeskill people whenever they can. As it was, a bunch of people who were listening to one jerk talk about how you shouldn't sell cinnamon sticks for less than 5pp (???) ended up selling NONE to anyone.

I gave up and just started foraging them myself. It gets very frustrating sometimes.

If you can get into a little used market, you can make a good amount of cash. Part of the problem is the vast majority of the server doesn't have the several thousand plat to buy the highest end tradeskilled items, though I understand that a lot of Cultural (like Dwarven stuff) sells really well.

The other problem is people are viscious undercutters there. I was among the first couple to start selling Wu's gear, selling from 5-9pp/ac. Making a decent profit, helped get me more money to go on in tradeskills. I finally got out of the Wu's market when people started selling stuff like Wu's Fighting Shirt for 15pp (total). I would have moved on to Acrylia Studded but people sell the parts for that like it was a mature server (if you can find the Superb Rockhopper hides) and, for me right now anyway, farming them is out of the question *shrug*.

So, while its great, and some of the best items in the game right now are made via tradeskills, overly common markets are dead.

Well, the best way to make money at low levels in tradeskills is to sell supplies.

Stromm is a new server, but is full of mature players. This is both a hinderence and a help.

As a hinderence, you have a lot of people saying "Well fine plate should only sell for 5pp per ac" and "I can get 20pp per leather padding on my home server".

As a help, there are many people who look to tradeskill made goods rather than ignoring them for nice, but rare, drops.

For your circumstances, I would sell -

Spider silks, or silk swatches, for 2pp for a silk or 4pp for a swatch. Maybe go to 3pp/6pp if you can't keep them in stock for more than an hour

Leather padding for 5pp to 8pp each. I won't buy at those prices, but you will find many who will. **Note** Never put up less than a whole stack. It is rare that a smith will buy 1 or 2 at a time, we like to buy in stacks as we need them on a regular basis.

              Plains pebbles - 2pp each

Any LoY dye component - 3pp to 5pp each (look in LoY recipes for the forages, there are several)

              Heady Kiolas - 2pp to 3pp each

Celestial Essences - 4pp each. Both the Kiolas and CE's are a pain in the butt to make, you can make good money selling these

Cinnamon sticks and other essence components - 2pp each (check the smithing and brewing sections for those essences that can be used to make cultural needles)

Morning Dew - 3pp to 5pp each (Don't kill me High Elf smiths! He CAN sell them for those prices easy. Please send feedback to SOE ingame about the fact that High Elves can't get Morning Dew for their temper except by paying while other races have a vendor sold component)

              -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now it may seem to you that these are small items, and therefore you won't make any "serious money", but let's look at what you might sell one night.

              1 stack of Spider silk - 40pp
              8 stacks of Heady Kiola - 320pp
              3 stacks of Celestial Essence - 120pp
              5 plains pebbles - 10pp
              2 morning dew - 6pp
              5 cinnamon sitcks - 10pp

That's 506pp overnight while you slept. Now you might not have as good a night as that everynight, but you might have better nights. This is stuff you can make and/or hunt at level 13.

The secret to making money in this game is know, deep down, that every copper adds up, and that selling too low will cost you money. In fact selling too low is almost as bad as pricing things too high. On Stromm right now these are reasonable prices. They will go up, and if you are willing to sit on this stuff you can make better profit, but at level 13 you can make these items for this kind of money right now.

I have noticed on Xegony that Spider/Spidering Silks are selling for big coin these days. Also, zombie skins and other pelts used in tradeskilling.

Stromm has a truely whacked economy. Everything is cheep because NOBODY HAS PLAT.

Ok, not quite true, but it gives you a feel for whats going on there. There are lots of low and mid level characters, and a few high level characters. The high level characters need cash so they offer for sale (at very reasonable prices...for other servers.) items that the mid levels would love to have, if they could only come up with a few hundred plat. Its a very cash poor economy. So, things that go for 50pp on Fennin Ro just because they are mind numbling booring to farm (like Swirling Shadows) go for 2pp here because the low level players CAN farm them. Craft materials sell for cheep because everybody needs plat and their isn't a whole lot floating around (some people want spells, the nerve of casters removing plat from the economy! Other people "waste" plat by buying things from vendors. And get this, because there is a Bazaar people arn't selling spiderling silk and bone chips to vendors because they think SOMEBODY will give them more than a vendor will, just because their right dosen't mean its right. Well, ok it dose. It also means that instead of 9cp entering the econom per spiderling silk dropping, it means their is a 1gp demand on the number of existing coins to obtain this item. Yes, spiderling silk on Stromm goes for 1gp each and their glad to have it.)
Also things considered absolute trash on other servers sell here. Take for instance bronze armor. Thats vendor trash on older servers. On Stromm its amongst the first "good" armor you'll see. Plenty of it goes up for sell in the bazaar, and people actualy buy it. Heck, people actualy pay for banded armor. Banded!

As for a decent source of income, hunt Paludial Caverns bandits. The bandit camps drop bronze ringmail, lousy weapons, spell components, and small coin. While the small coin isn't all that great, the armor is fantastic vendor fodder (and can occasionaly be sold to other players). After you pass beyond the reach of Plaudial Caverns (start grouping at 14, graduate from soloing around 25) head for High Hold Keep and hunt goblins in groups. They drop ok coin and fine steel weapons which sell well to a vendor. After that start seeing what you can sell in the Bazaar, probably by paying attention to what you can buy before that.

                  G'luck
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

Well, since trade items sell for cheap, I think it would behoove one to buy up all the swirling shadows for 2pp and resell them in a month to the hardcore smiths (Keplar and Foarge come to mind) for a hefty profit. Or, perhaps, THEY should be buying them to plan for the future. =D

Well, Keplar will be farming them himself. He's a cheap son of a gun! Seriously, I don't begrudge people charging what they can, I just won't pay it, although others will.

And that's the key. Just because you don't think something is worth Xpp is irrelevant if you can find buyers. They obviously think it is worth Xpp. So what you need to do is figure out how to get things that sell for more than your time is worth.

That is if, IF, you want to make plat in this game. Sometimes fun is more important than plat, never forget that.
