Maybe you'd be better off checking the primal scream room for trophy horror stories and taking your sense of humor in for its 10,000 mile check up.Originally posted by IlonaYou need *one* purified mana per attempt at a trophy. They are not regularly skill-up items.Originally posted by kiztentAny time you try to make a trophy I'd say.Originally posted by IlonaPersonally, I'd much prefer spells for the lower mana vials. After all, how often do you actually need *10* purified mana? Distilled, yes; Clear, yes; but Purified? no
If you feel you need to amass ingredients for 10 attempts at a trophy, perhaps you'd be better off skilling up farther before attempting your trophy :?:

whoo boy....
*sigh*
10 bricks of clay enchanted for "60 mana" .... not bloody likely (to quote Spike from BTVS) I somehow don't see Verant cutting the mana cost from 600 to 60.
10 -purified- mana vials for 5000 mana .... hmm... let me run off to check eqcaster.exe for a sec.... yeah ok, at least that isn't a 90 precent reduction in mana cost ... in fact....
It doesn't reduce the reagent cost OR the mana cost one iota.
we would cast this spell because?? we need to save the 8.25 seconds per cast (including recast delay, presuming no spell haste) for the 9 extra casts... be generous and say...
"this spell will save 80 seconds of your life if you ever run into a situation where you need a half stack of purified mana vials RIGHT NOW."
This spell would rank up there in usefulness with "true north" the spell that points you north... when you can drop any pointy object on the ground for less mana and time spent.
It's a JOKE. Has to be.

I was simply trying to say that for vials used in skill-up recipes, like those used in Wu's (tailoring), or for ceramic bands, idols or golden idols (pottery), where people regularly need a stack or more of the mana vials, a spell summoning multiple mana vials is likely going to be *much* more useful than for purified mana.Originally posted by kiztentMaybe you'd be better off checking the primal scream room for trophy horror stories and taking your sense of humor in for its 10,000 mile check up.
Purified mana is used in Velium Hound fur tailoring (not often do I sit down with 2-4 stacks of velium hound furs, even less often I make anything other than cloaks with these furs), advanced Erudite cultural (no idea on this one, but I rarely get through a stack of tempers in one sitting in either WE or HIE advanced cultural), and the infamous trophy.
As I pointed out, you only need one purified mana vial per attempt at a trophy. While some people have especially bad luck on their trophy combines (yes, I *have* read the horror stories in PSR), trophies can hardly be considered skill-up recipes, and I'd still wager that *most* people gather ingredients for only one or two attempts at a time when attempting a trophy. Your mileage may vary.
I repeat what I originally posted: Personally, I'd much prefer spells for the lower mana vials.

true north = good way to skill up Divination. ^_^Originally posted by ItekThis spell would rank up there in usefulness with "true north" the spell that points you north...
true north = nice way to find your way back home in a totally-new-to-you noob zone when you know where you are in relation to the city zone line and no one has told you about the 'drop weapon on ground and it points north' thing.
ok, just because i'm a lucy idiot... what field there tells me that it spits out a stack or a half-stack of mana vials or clay? just have to do the math with the mana and reagents given?
also... if they're doing ONE mana vial spell en masse, what if they do others? That would be worth it then. wouldn't it? (*Dreams of imbuing 20, 10, 5, EVEN 2 emeralds with one cast* *then smacks herself b/c it won't happen ^_^*)

The reagents given will tell you the number of mana vials you summon. The spells don't eat reagents if they fizzle, only if they succeed.Originally posted by Sannawhat field there tells me that it spits out a stack or a half-stack of mana vials or clay? just have to do the math with the mana and reagents given?
Imbues would be lovely too, though unfortunately my druid can't do a full stack of those on one mana bar yet.

I found True North very useful in my fifties. Mostly for navigating through certain zones to specific locs to find ground spawns. Nowadays there's a compass but it's just not as accurate.
Also it's useful after a death. If you can position yourself in the right place, you can cast KEI on yourself before your rez and have it land after your rez. True North is somewhat useful for getting to that spot.

Re: Changed
Doh!
Well I cast purify mana and distill mana a lot. I sell the vials on my bazaar mule. I usually make 20 purified and 60 distilled per session. I was already trying to think of a way to come up with 800 more mana so I could cast the 5000 mana spell...
I agree that this would be much more useful for viscous mana than anything else. I stopped making those because the casting time was too long to justify the profit margin.Farghen Oom

True North
Ok, I stand corrected.
But remember...
1) I am an enchanter on my main. Raising Divination was NEVER a problem.
2) I am a druid on my main alt. "Sense Animal" + Fishing.
3) Sense Heading is MAX every level on all my characters (even without tying the "turn left" key to the "sense heading" key)
4) at 200 skill the compass in the UI is -perfect-
5) I began learning how to, and mastered, manuvering by /loc "alone" before Halloween 99 and my first characters birthday is Aug 99.
By the time True North came out I had no reason to have it in my spell book. (and this was ALSO before you could move spells around, I had learned from my friend the Wizard's mistakes and planned my spell book out before I even created my enchanter)
Guess someone somewhere thinks EVERY spell is nifty. I like "Sentinel" ... but haven't used it in some time.
Anyone out there cast 'whirl till you hurl' often?
As always, it's only my opinion. In my opinion summoning these items in mass quantity is of the most minor relevance. (I have, do, and will in the future I am sure, spend my time waiting for spell casting these types of spells and recovering the mana working on Fishing... stuck at 165 still.)
Besides, it seems moot, the spell data has already changed. *sigh* But I still wanted to appologize to those who thought I was bad mouthing True North. It's a good spell if you need it to practice or don't want to bother with working up Sense Heading. In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.

I make 40 purified mana at a time. Every elemental jewelry combine (which is a subcombine for all tailoring/smithing), not to mention elemental tempers, uses purified mana.Originally posted by IlonaPersonally, I'd much prefer spells for the lower mana vials. Looks like those effects are no longer in the Lucy database though.
