  • Future EQ Plans

The Future Plans page is new as well:

    http://eqlive.station.sony.com/updates/future_plans.jsp

    Look at #7!

    7) Tradeskills

We will be looking at the chance of failure for tradeskill recipes. We are aware of the concerns of trades folk in EverQuest, and it is on our schedule to review things such as the fact that masters of trade skills can fail the easiest recipes. That doesn't necessarily mean that we plan to change it, but we will most certainly look it over - and probably will change it .

I still say that if you are 100 points above the trivial, it should become no-fail. You could still fail items like fine plate armor, acrylia studded gear, and a large portion of other desireable items, but never fail on leather padding, metal bits, acrylia studs, and so forth if you're a master. My personal opinion, though frankly I'll probably be happy with any change to make it less likely to fail trivial items.

no fail metal bits... no fail leather padding... no fail clumps of dough... no fail bread (ie, no burnt bread and missing tin)... this could be the best revision they've ever made. ever.

Guildmasters will take a more active role in helping out new recruits by directing them to some starting points for quests. There will be even more quests in the newbie zones, most of them revolving around the pests that seem to inhabit even the grandest cities

They are introducing a new line of quests revolving around Rangers?

HAHAHHAHAHHAHA. Aside from Liliosh's ever funny comments (no really, they are); WE WONDERED what's up with the 'a rodent' in felwithe. I forced my brother to skill up his paladin through lvl 2 on them, 'because xp will never be this easy again'.

then my roommate, a high elf cleric of about 61 levels, gets a faithstone from a guildie and goes 'home' for the first time in levels...... and screams to me about the 'a rodent's running around all over the place. I told her no one really knew.

Gosh, it will be good to have new noob content. Maybe I'll start a couple of characters somewhere and bask in the RP-ness. ^_^

                            OFFICAL June 11th Annoucement

                            11) Improvements to the game for new players. New players can be overwhelmed by all of the items they find in the game (heck, so do those of us who have been playing for a few years). To help reduce that confusion, we are adding a Tradeskill tag to items that are used as components in trade skill recipes.
                            WooHoo!
                            This is awesome!!!

Regarding the trivials - I think a skill of 100 over trival for sub-component combines should make it no-fail.

I wonder if it is live now...

Y'know they didn't mention it specifically in any recent patch message, but the "Future plans" thing about reducing fails on trivial combines, you know, this thing:
                              7) Tradeskills
We will be looking at the chance of failure for tradeskill recipes. Well, it may just be dumb luck, but on recent sessions of making throwing ammo (forged shurikens and javelins) I've made a ton and no fails at all. I think I have smithing 122, and the Javelins are 79(?) triv, and I usually fail about the predictable 1 in 20 combines but the last 3 times I had to make shurikens and javs I have had maybe 50-60 combines total over the last couple weeks and not a single fail. Quirky RNG or has anyone else noticed a change?
