I concur with Tobin, yes the gem method espoused by others will "work" to transfer plat but that is needless transfer tax which penalizes the solo player or one who can't find a trustworthy friend on line. I'd like to see a plat sharing method but will live without and rely on guildmates for the plat transfers if they can't/won't program that ability in.

If coding a window for plat transfers is too expensive how about having vendors sell a "plat" bag (like bag of platinum you get when you sell a mount). It could either be variable value and buy and sell for face value or if that was too complicated sell them in standard denominations of 100 - 500 - 1000 pieces. They could even make them weigh the same as the equivalent amount of currency to avoid "weight cheaters" who might want to circumvent the weight limits (hmmmm . . . Monks come to mind )

Asheron's Call had something like that. You could buy Notes from vendors in predefined amounts. These notes could then be sold back to vendors. The catch was that they were tagged with the selling vendor's name. If you sold the note to the original vendor, you got face value. If you sold the note to a different vendor, you got 75% value.

UO handed money transfers by getting bank notes from your friendly neighborhood banker. You would tell him a certain phrase, including the amount the note was to be for, and if you had that much money you would find a note for that amount sitting in your bank. To cash it in you simply handed the note to any banker and that amount of money would appear in your bank. With the differences between game engines that exact system wouldn’t work, but something similar might.

For now I’ll be happy, overjoyed actually, with the shared bank slots. And maybe, if that works out well, Sony will add a way to transfer coins.

You're right Tobin. SoE should never enhance the game again because it might be unfair to someone.

            trader mule

"Until SOE makes items with exact buy / sell ..."

            "What about stuff in LoY...."

            "My CHA is low..."

Thurgadin Gate Potion + Soulbinder + Level 8 High Elf Enchanter

Thurgadin Gate Potion = second bind point one zone from a PoK book.

Soulbinder = not having to get "Bind Affinity"

            Level 8 Enchanter = "Gate"

            Level 8 Enchanter = "alliance"

Level 8 High Elf Enchanter (twink for MULE) = 115 CHA -before- adding two cheap 25 CHA steins or other even CHEAPER CHA gear.

Oh, and if you would, please, go back and read my post, THERE ARE EQUAL BUY / SELL items. I just haven't needed to bother. I _know_ peridots are above it, 10.5 buy, 9.5 sell. But I know that Jasper is BELOW the "equal price" but it's under a plat each, which would require more transfers.

Yes, you would need to make the MULE level 8. Yes, you would need to get them a decent pottery skill. Yes you might be forced to farm a few stacks of ingredients for the TGP. (I should stop talking about TGP before high skill alchemists come and rip me limb from limb.)

The 6/11/03 patch will make life much easier. I didn't say it would make it easy. Yes, shared plat would be nifty. But it's not something that is "needed" in the same way that "shared bank space" is. There ARE ways to use shared bank space to move money back and forth, or avoid 90 percent of the NEED to move money. But with "shared bank space" we can avoid having to trust someone to "hold / transfer this for me" ...

My wife and I have our computers 3 feet apart. One of us has gone linkdead during a "swap equipment around" session on at least one occasion. So, even with PERFECT trust, there is hassle / inconvience in "Account A to Account B back to Account A" transfers. Not anymore.

Would replacing "shared bank space" with "share bank account" accomplish the same thing? No.

As I said, this first occured to me when someone was discussing the "need" to freeze buffs on Traders in the Bazaar. (So their KEI / Virtue / ETC wouldn't fade as their Trader-Mode -high-skill- Main tried to offload Tradeskill items and Phat Lewt.) I pointed out that if you could transfer the items directly to the Trader you wouldn't need to save the buffs, as their timers would not be running.

==Some one posted "hate to tell you, the deluxe toolboxes are sold in PoK" ...

            *groan* *faint* *cries while unconcious*

Now I feel really silly... oh well, I am not a tinker so I didn't check where they were sold for added vendors. Lucky for me most of the time I spent was logging on and off and handing boxes and other items around. So not knowing probably only cost me half an hour.

(now we have "the weapons locker", "the acrylia locker", "the brewer / baker mule", "the tailoring mule", "the bazaar Trader mule", "the original mule / guild banker" ... makes it much easier to remember what each mule has on them if they only hold certain things.... "ok, where are the brownie parts... oh, duh Itekam the brewer / baker mule.")

Goes to show, even the great and wise Itek can pull a bone-head mistaken idea from time to time. (I *twitch* every time I look at my old high school yearbooks... what was I -thinking- with those haircuts??)

It's just my opinion folks. In the old days I had one computer for both me and my wife. Twinking her, and especially twinking my own alts, was a NIGHTMARE. Because the only person I trusted lives 2000 miles and 2 time zones EAST of me. He's left for work before I get up. By the time he's home from work in the afternoon I have to leave for my afternoon shift job. By the time I get home in mid-evening HE'S asleep. We could usually arrange to swap equipment around once each 2 - 4 WEEKS. And it would involve HUGE logistics because this was before POK so you had to RUN or get ported, and oh, by the way level 1 mules who died, had 30 minutes to get their corpses or POOF. Then the nightmare REALLY began as we would have 5 way transfers.

Get item A, B, C, D and 3500 plat from Itek and give to Klarion
Log off Itek and on Thewife.
Get 3000 plat and A, B, C from Klarion, get Item E and F from Klarion
Log off Klarion and on Klarsmule
            Give E and F to Klarsmule, get G, H, J, K, L
Log off Klarsmule and on Klarion
            Give G, H, J, K, and L to Klarion
Log off Thewife and on Itekaltone
Get D and 500 plat from Klarion

Shared bank space? Dude... I nearly danced naked in the streets shouting "Huzzah, Huzzah, Hey Nannie Nannie, Huzzah!" But no one wants to see that...

Now I think I will log in to PoK and check the buy / sell on the gem vendor and see if I can find the highest equal price gem. Wish me luck.

.sig broken, missing or under construction.... construction planned for 6-11-03

Just a mindless comment about bags for your bank. Just remember you can get traders satchels for a little over a plat, to fill your bank slots. 10 slot giant item bags. they are heavy, but who cares, they will never leave your bank

Traders Satchels are No Drop, and according to what SoE has told us about the new 'shared' bank slots, you can't put No Drop items in them.

Ergo, you have to find something other than Satchels for those two slots.

Do your transfer with Frost Giant Meat then. 1 silver to buy, 1 silver to sell. Spend 3 hours to transfer 4k, or lose 3%. The choice is yours. SOE provides the means. As it is, I use peridots to transfer monies (or a second account). My time is worth 3%.

I can't believe how many people are whining. SoE is bending over backwards trying to make the game more enjoyable. Many of our gripes are being addressed slowly but surely and all I hear is "Hurry up! More! Faster!" Being Professional Tradeskillers I thought we all had learned a bit of patience.

Although this is the most proactive bitching I've seen in a while. People actually waited until the day AFTER LoY was released to complain about the stuff that had been added.

                          ok,

Basicaly the way I see it, anything I move to a /Trader mule will be sold and the profits used to buy gear upgrades for the most part, BUT not everthing I have as loot in my inventory is Marketable in the bazaa and ends up being sold to merchants by Me, on top of this is the coin loot that acumulates. (once a Melee starts aculmulating WR bags and especialy if he gets his hands on a coin weigt reducing purse you can hold on to more and more coins) Frankly, I have a feeling that what will happen (from My PoV) is that the few times I will actualy need to back transfer Plat, I can simply ask a Guildmate to do it, or just buy some gems and eat the markup.

If I acumulate too mutch plat in my account, then I can just take myself up to the Bazaa and do my own shoping.

                            Oakraven-

I have been avoiding saying that. ... "Don't you EVER earn plat on your main and NOT spend it?" *grin* Figured that was too obvious.

Hmm... I checked the buy / sell on gems ...

I was flabbergasted. I know that years ago when I worked my jewelry skill up you could buy gems for X and sell them for X as long as X was below 10.5 plat peridots.

No longer true. Not sure when the change was. (I got jewelry to the 117 level before I ran out of plat. Pre-Kunark. Gave up and didn't come back to tradeskills till I needed baking and pottery for shawl quests 3 and 4. Then was about to work on tailoring for 5 and 6 when I found out I would need fletching when 7 went live. Quit tradeskills again till I got Brewing to GM for the trophy. hey, it was cheap)

So.... it's tiny daggers or batwings or something for 1 silver still breaking even.

                            400 silver ... hmm... that's harsh...

did find out that the cheapest gem buys for 52 copper and sells for 48 ... about 92/93 percent return.... peridot for 9.5 / 10.5 is close to 90 percent return...

So, I just won't BUY skilling items or bazaar items with my main, saving my looted plat for stuff that _I_ have to buy like NO DROPs and class training at the guild (research 169 ... each point is around 30 pp, still not as painful as tailoring)

Tobin's point, for those not reading the other thread, is the Trader's Satchels are NO DROP and can't be used to move Hala's Meat Pies from his main to his mule. For reasons of his own he feels Toolboxes aren't a valid way, for him, to move and store equipment.
