  • Crafting Character

I'm at a dilemna in who to make as my primary crafter character.

My Cleric would seem the obvious choice at 252 Wisdom.

But my Ranger would be more versatile in gathering/farming supplies and has tracking and foraging, not to mention it's easier making money with her. Ranger has a paltry 75 Int, 118 Wisdom, but some nice secondaries with 148 Str and 203 Dex.

But will I be hurting myself by not going for the high crafting success stat of the Cleric if I go with the Ranger?

I'd like to use my Ranger as my main crafter character, but am I just asking for a ton of tedious skill-gaining and loss of resources/money? But if I chose my Cleric it would be my Ranger supplying her with nearly all of the non-mechant buyable resources.

For you experienced crafters, which would you choose as a primary crafter? I'm mainly going into Blacksmithing, Cooking, Fletching, Pottery, and Brewing if that's any help.

Blacksmithing & Fletching because I want to make those new acrylia arrows.

Pottery because it goes with cooking and because I want to do the Coldain Shawl quests among other quests.

Cooking and Brewing because one day I would like to make my own Misty Thicket Picnics, Qeynos Afternoon Teas, and Holy Cakes. :-)

Wis gear is cheap, if your ranger can produce decent cash, just upgrade him to 200+ wis. You didnt mention levels, unless I missed it, so this is in general, with assumptions. If you have the option of NTCM on either, I would suggest going that route. Couple points here though:

Smithing and Fletching can be done on ranger of course, doesnt take much smithing iirc to make acrylia arrowshfts, and condensed substance arrowheads are easy way to get post 200 in fletching, since they are easy to obtain materials for. Obviously, since Dex is an alternate stat for fletching, I would stick fletching on ranger, since he nice dex already.
I do baking/brewing on my cleric, since any tradeskill you can carry around all you need for combines is nice on clerics while you med. My bard has fletching/smithing/pottery as his main skills. I have no objection to farming/foraging via bard and making transfer.
