If everyone knows that something is used for tradeskills vendor mining will become a thing of the past and you will be paying through the nose for everything you don't farm yourself.
Availability may go up but so will costs for both components and finished products.

I hope I'm wrong on that
Price will go up at first, but as the market floods (and it would in many cases) price would go down. Classic supply and demand in action. Best thing is I wouldn't just delete stuff I get and have no idea what it is for since I am not a tradeskill person.
It's an item tag, just like Lore, No Drop, No Rent or Magic.
Aye, but will we see it on a Spiderling Silk, or on a Solstice Robe?
or both?

You'll see it on the spiderling silk...
Which I'm afraid means that I won't be able to buy stuff for a few gold off NPC's anymore. People will start hording stuff tagged as such and selling it in the bazaar for a huge markup. And hey, doesn't sound like a bad idea since I have a trader mule anyway.... Fight fire with fire...
No more vendor mining, no more buying stuff cheap from people, and HUNDREDS of "OMG THIS SAYS TRADESKILL ON IT WHAT DOES IT DO" questions on the serverwide channel.

I wish I could support the idea behind s&d in EQ, but people in EQ are greedier and more patient than most people selling on a real market. In the last few months components for tradeskill itmes have sky rocketed on Ayonae Ro, at least some of the stuff I make. The economy is more a vendor controled economy than a realistic type. You might spend 1100pp to buy enough acrylia to make an acrylia studded tunic, but nobody is willing to buy it for more than 900pp.
Adding this tag to items sounds like a good idea for experimenting with new items, but like others have said, vendor diving will be a thing of the past.
Seems like a bad idea to me as well. I don't really understand the motivation for it, I would never expect them to add a tag like Quest Item to stuff which is generally more mysterious (and usually identify is useless for it).

(see that Moderator tag - well that is for the Vazaelle marketplace, my posts and opinions should not be considered as anything but my own and not reflect poorly on the folks doing all the hard stuff here. )
I think it's a huge benefit. There's so much stuff that people don't know what it is for. If it is marked as a tradeskill item, they can give it to someone that can use it.

Merchant mining is one of the rare joys left in the game. I don't like the idea of tagging things. Some people will give to someone who can use it - but most will sell it.
How many things aren't combinable in some way? Almost everything that is dropped can be used in a tradeskill unless it is a quest piece or an already made item.
I would much rather have them start labeling no drop quest pieces with the classes who can use it - I'm tired of groups stopping to look up online every no drop item that drops. Just put the classes on there and things could move much faster... and I wouldn't be stuck with so much crap in my bank that I'll never use.
