  • This can't be true but.......

Before I say this I must say I don't believe it but if I'm wrong I would sure like to know.

A player insisted to me the other day that it is possible to "see and buy" what merchants have been sold beyond what you can scroll down to in their window (when they are full). He wouldn't tell me now, of course, because it was a 'guild secret' (a contridiction in trems?). I have never been able to figure out a way and have not seen anything in writing.

Am I just in the dark or was he just pulling my leg?

Yes, there are two ways. The merchant will only have 10 items beyond what you can see, So the first way is to buy out 10 slots of his inventory, close the merchant, and look again. Everything that was hidden is now visible, assuming nobody else is selling to him at that time.

If you are interested in one specific thing, its even easier. buy out one merchant slot, so there is an open space. Sell the merchant one of whatever you are looking for. If it pops into the open slot, he has NONE hidden. If it doesn't, there is at least one more of them in his inventory, so start digging. Those are the only ways I know of.

There is also an interface mod that shows everything a vendor is carrying.

It's possible he's using one of those cheat programs that give you all of the zone data and what not and it's been modified to only show merchant data?

More likely he's using a UI mod thats become popular recently that lets you see a vendors entire inventory. I don't think Sony would consider that a "cheat"
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

Actually SOE would consider that a cheat since it alters gameplay, even in a minor way.

Thanks for the comments. I have bought stuff in hopes I would find what I was looking for but I didn't realize there were only 10 more slots and I hadn't heard of a modified UI. I'm not really interested in modifying the program or the UI so I won't worry about that. I was hopeing there was a simple cont + alt + X or some such that would open up the rest of his window.

              Cool, thanks again.

I've used a variety of UI's and looked at several others that modify the vendor windows. All the ones I've seen show only the eighty slots that you could scroll through. If there's one that shows the ten "hidden" slots, I would be very interested in knowing how it works. If memory serves, there are no UI elements for the last ten slots in the XML files ...

There was a bug for a while where the UI was showing fewer than the normal slots and people with an unmodified UI could see all 80 slots. I'm not aware of any UI that show the 10 hidden slots, and yes, it would be considered an exploit/bannable.
