    Refunds

I've had this come up a couple times as a tinkerer. I try and keep items that look the same in different parts of my inventory to help prevent confusion to the buyer. Every once in a while things will get mixed together when restocking and since all the "devices" look the same I have had customers buy the wrong one, usually confusing minimizing devices and maximizing devices. In all cases just traded them the item they wanted for the item they bought. I sell minimizing devices and maximizing devices for the same price so this was no issue for me. But I would definately take this as a case by case basis.

I saw the request in my "tells" window when I got home from work. The player was not on at that time and I didn't see her the entire evening. My AFK message clearly states what time I get home, so she knew when I would be available to talk about a return, but she never came online.

At worst case, she asked for the refund 4 hours after purchasing it, but I haven't taken the time to find the tell in my regular log and compare the time stamp to the sale from the BZR log. It has now been 24 hours at least since she purchased it.

I was going to give her the money back, mostly because I am one of the few people on Quellious selling high end pottery stuff in the Bazaar and I don't want people to have a problem with me. I can also re-sell the bracelet pretty easily--demand is outpacing supply right now. Unfortunately, if she doesn't contact me, I can't help her.

Thanks for all the thoughtful comments. Most of my guildmates said things similar to "let the buyer beware", but they aren't traders. I was glad to get your thoughts.

Well I made a very good friend when I bought a runed sea shell (cloud) thinking it was the enduring breath one for 1k pp. Astronomical sum to me at that time too.

Left a message for the seller and she contacted me later, I actually landed up joining the guild that she was in after a few more time I met these nice people.

If I can check that someone bought something and sent my trader a tell requesting a refund within reasonable timeframe (1day), I will refund.

After all I play this game to have fun, and know the feeling of seeing a lot of saving up nearly go down the drain.

            Whoah...

Thanks Anhar, Possible Scam warning I guess.

I never knew that the charges were not shown correctly on bazaar vendor items. I almost bought a larrikans mask cheap the other day.

They're not shown properly when you view them via link, either one from a communications channel (shout, auction, ooc, etc) or when looking at the item from the bazaar menu. However, when you open the vendor window and inspect it from there, it will properly display the current number of charges.

RE: the charges on an item - my understanding is that if you go to the vendor and click on the one he has in inventory, it will show the number of charges left. (I've seen this when some "10 dose" vials had only 4 or 5 doses left). Right clicking on an item in the bazaar search window will only show full charges.

If someone buys a non-special order item, and I happen to be there and he contacts me immediately, I may be inclined to give a refund. If it is a smithed cultural item, though (which I only make to order), or I no longer have an easily seen record of the transaction on my screen (i.e., I've logged since the transaction) - oh well. He should know what he wants before he3 ordered it, and if he found a cheaper one the next day...I want to be fair to customers, but I don't want to subsidize buyer's remorse.

I refunded her money. She was doing a bazaar search for "waist" and accidentally selected "wrist" Honest mistake.

Heh. I had an unusual situation come up a while back. I needed some snazzy duds for my wedding, but I didn't want to buy a tuxedo, as it were, for just one occasion. So, since I already had a few pieces of Heraldic armor, I contacted our local human Heraldic seller and offered to "rent" most of a suit of Heraldic armor for a week. He was a bit suspicious at first, but I won him over by offering to put up the full purchase price as a deposit, and a rental fee of several Essence of Sunlight.

So I had my wedding in a full suit of Radiant Heraldic armor (sans the helm, as my fiancee objected to the pointy horns), and it only cost me about 1000pp in EoS, rather than the 20K+ it would have cost to buy the pieces I needed.

I considered just buying them and reselling them later, but I didn't want to compete with the smith; either I'd have to drop my prices and take a loss, or hope that someone would pick me over him. Given that he's the only producer of Heraldic on the open market, I decided not to risk it.
