  • Looking for definitive answer - Int/Wis or Str/Dex ?

There are tons of posts that point to any of the above stats and how they relate to skill ups. I've always been under the impression that its Int/Wis (higher of the two) that solely determine this - and str/dex have no role to play.

Can someone plz provide the definite answer to this please?

    Thanks,
    Braeorn

Lol. Anyone trying to post the 'definitive' answer would be shot down in flames. There is so much myth around this topic that it almost qualifies as a legend.

I will venture to say that most agree that if you max out either wisdom or intelligence, you will max out your skillups.

Most agree that maxing out strength in some skills is also a way to max out skillups. As a wisdom druid with lousy strength, I'll leave details to a melee tradeskiller with more knowledge.

A few diehards insist that dexterity in combination with wisdom/intelligence and maybe strength plays a role. These folks would need a contractually binding SOE statement signed in blood, in triplicate to be convinced otherwise... Lol. Most folks now acknowledge that the 'dexterity skillup multiplying effect' is bogus.

The only confirmation I have gotten from the developers at fan faire is that all tradeskills use int/wis which ever is higher for skill up. Only exception is the smithing where strength can be substituted for int/wis. Even the deveopers were split on whether dex applies to tailoring so I would not count on it unless someone has personal experience to prove that it does work.

ALL Tradeskills grant skill-ups based on the higher of INT or WIS.

For smithing, skill ups are based on the highest of INT, WIS or STR.
For jewelcrafting and Fletching, skill ups are based on the highest of INT, WIS or DEX.

It is intended eventually for tailoring skill ups to be based on the highest of INT WIS or DEX, but there has been no confirmation that this is yet live, the last word for Yakatizma is that it was not yet live, and experimentation seems to verify that this is, in fact, not live.

Only the highest of the listed stats will affect your skill up chance. Having 255 INT and 65 STR does you precisely as much good as having 255 INT and 240 STR.

Your chance for success is based SOLELY on your skill level vs. the difficulty & trivial levels of the item you are attempting to create.

And since this is one of those beaten-to-death topics, and the link has already been posted...
