  • Need to give more info to Trade skill success/fail text

Should the developers give the same info to the person making a trade skill item as they do to the people in the group? I think they should.

    example

You failed to make Metal Bits with your feeble Blacksmith skill.
You become a better Blacksmith! (250)

You made Bristlebane's Party Platter with your Baking skill!
You can no longer advance Baking with this item.

Just an idea, I think something like this would be easy for them to do and really help the trade community. After all, why do people in the group know what we try to make, when we don't? We could actually have a parser that works if they did this.

....uh, if you cant figure out that your smithing when you're trying to make metal bits, or that you're baking when you make the Platter, success or fail notwithstanding...you've got other problems. <img src=http://www.boomspeed.com/sinuuyanea/dcrazz.gif alt="Better check your pulse again!">

The only thing I'd want to see them change is the removal of trivial failures. I dont think we need flavor text for successes/failures, but that's just my opinion.

No, I did NOT lack the skills to make that Fish roll.

I think it would be useful for parsing purposes, but that's about it.

Given that my SK has over 100 in most skills, and uses them, I have no way of knowing exactly how many combines it did take to get the last point of smithing (or baking, or tailoring or whatever).

So what did you make the fish do if not roll?

I'd also like for them to change the dialogue when you're grouped with someone who is Baking.

******* did NOT make a Bear Fillet and a Filleting Knife. They made a Bear Fillet and already had the knife!

******* did fail to make a Patty Melt and make a Frying Pan instead. They already had the Frying Pan!

              For parsing...

And for Screenshots, so people don't have to ask "What were you making?"

The slarghog popper you had for lunch appears to have cause a cosmic rift in the seat of your pants which caused the combine of the 2 silks in your deluxe sewing kit to fail.

now thats a failure message and there is no way that I LACKED THE SKILLS on a combine that I can no longer advance my skills from.

Don't try to make the fish fetch the newspaper - it comes back all soggy. :P

Actually, something like this happens to me almost daily. Not that I don't know the tradeskill, but I don't know what I am making.

Some druid or shaman or cleric will come to me for a research combine. They will drop two or three strange items into my window along with a parchment and a quill. I'll combine them in my Lexicon and with the scroll still on my cursor I will hand it to them. Naturally, the first thing I say is "Congratulations!" The second thing is invariably, "What did I make?"

I could put it back in the container and right click it, but I always forget =)

As a baker, I have all of my combines memorized, or **** near close.

But then again, there are alot more research combines, I suppose.

When you drop it in the trade window hold down the alt key.

It isn't so much the combines. I know all of the wizard ones. It is just when some druid wants me to combine page 63 left with a bit of clover and some swirly mist stuff. What the heck kind of thing is THAT for a wizard to combine?

What is this profit of which you speak? I know not such things. Research combines are free. Always have been, always will be. I refuse to charge anyone for spells.

I'm usually just too happy for the person getting a new spell that I forget to check what it is I made. Good thing, too. Last night I made Levitation for a druid, which is the only spell that I am still missing from my entire spell book (except some low level ones added after other spells made them obsolete).

I don't think I would have kept it for myself, but I would have felt bad at even being tempted... so better that I didn't know.
