  • Forging Macros

Does anyone out there know how to set up a macro to automatically forge every X seconds and then place the contents into your backpack. I would love to be able to camp my ranger out in a safe spot and have him forge for an hour or so while I do something productive with my time like say eat

    Thanks

well unfortunutly the macro support in EQ will only pause for 60 seconds max and the refresh time on forageing is 96 seconds. you coul do a macro with 2 forages.

/doabilityX (X = the ability# you have forage set to)
    /pause 600
    /pause 400
    /doabilityX

the only other option would be to goto a third party program which would more than likly break the EULA and could get you banned or suspended.

It does the pause on a line second so you can squeeze 3 forages on a macro thusly:

      /pause 600,/do 1
      /pause 400,/do 2
      /pause 600,/do 1
      /pause 400,/do 2
      /do 1

Here 1 is forage, 2 is sense heading. I like the sense heading message so I know it is working!

while this thing is running other hotkeys are dead, so be careful.

And I did forget to mention there is no way to autobag what you forage. Altho you can hold 1 of each unique item you forage.

the base answer to your base question as stated is 'no'. there is no way (that does not violate the various TOS/EULAs) to leave a charactor to do a certain series of actions over a relatively long period of time that includes mouse-clicking. Verant wants you at your computer, playing your char. Aside from bazaar /trader time, if you want something productive done, you have to do it yourself.

you can macro your forage key to a move key, perfectly legally. you can macro up a key that you press once, and it will forage several times in succession for you. but anything too much more than that, no.

i thought you were talking about macroing smithing

to forge something is a smithing term similar which is basically to create from parts of shape from something

I thought foraging recycles every 110 seconds?

                    Thanks for the responses

One more question however, is there a way to loop the macros? Setting up a forge button will get me a few forges but could I get more by saying in effect start back at the top of the macro.

that one i don't think so either.

my EQ-hating BF's words, while slightly bitter, are relatively true... Verant wants you in front of your computer, doing stuff yourself. That, and the $13/month, are the price we pay to do what we do.

Since the long and short answer is no, and any other response is going to pretty much go against EULA, I'm closing this down before someone gets the urge to post less "legal" methods of doing it.
