  • Special mouse or hardware for tradeskills

Hey, I wondered if anyone has gotten a special mouse with tradeskills in mind? We make jokes about RSI injuries here at times, but it seems this is real. Within EQ guidelines, and computer hardware realities, are there other things that will work? Tracking balls, even game pads / joy sticks? /shrug

    Anybody have anything special?

My roommate and I have speculated about modifying a DDR pad to be movement inputs, leaving both hands free at all times to move mouse and type. My BF, of course, thinks we're insane.

not that we have half a clue how to do that, and if my BF does, he sure as heck ain't talkin. ^_^

but hey, excercise while playing EQ. figure out how to get monitor and stuff at appropriate height levels, only able to sit when your char is medding/healing... heh.

        Or...
VR-EQ. A realistic 3D setup, actually be able to see what other charactors are doing... have a book open on lap to show memming of spells, show rummaging around in bags..... I Wanna Sit In Front of Pok Bank and Bake Pinemyer Pasta! Heh.

Friend of mine figured out if you have an IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 or later (with side buttons and all) that with new EQ in a window you can program overrides into the buttons. IE, he was able to assign in game commands to the mouse buttons via some direct override code he wrote. He assigned cast 8(c-heal) and another spell to his. EULA violation or not? you decide.

i'm neither a programmer nor a lawyer, but it does not sound like eula violation to me. my BF has one of those too-many-button mice, and he has certain commands built in, like, sideclick = open link in new tab. not sure what 'direct override code' is, but it doesn't sound like he's changing the basic function of the game, only a user-end command. same way editing UIs is perfectly ok... the game play does not change, only the frame you see it through.

I actually saw a post here about a game pad from Belkin. While it doesnt do mouse clicks it will do such things as hold the CTL key down for you. right now I have it hold the CTL key for 2 mins.

if you have an X-Keys (programmable keypad)

they claim to have a patch that would enable you to program mouse moves / clicks into it as well as key strokes...

                  havn't tried it yet though...
