  • Question about Race and Diety...

Just had a question reguarding which Race and diety I should take for trade skill purposes.... I have found being a half elf makes tradeskilling almost impossible and not being an enchanter makes things more expensive. My Half elf Ranger could only manage to get fletching up to or above 200 without much difficulty. My Barbarian Shaman would be able to get things up a lot smoother if he could just enchant metals and do mana vials himself. So I am going to make an Enchanter and get her to at least level 49 so i have all the mana and enchant metals... I figure with her too I can just make her my tradeskill person... I was also thinking of maybe making her a gnome so that I would have tinkering availiable to me as well... Thanks for any input...

Honestly I don't think there is REALLY a real answer here. Even though you have chosen a class.. each part of Class / Race / Diety is all 1 part of it and each has good and bad.. some track, forge, tinker, alchmey, better stats, this race can't do this but can do these <which you have pointed out>, need this deity or I can't do this .. ect

One of the fun parts of a tradeskiller .. I have THIS player .. can I get to GM or 1750!!

Good Luck with the enchanter and hope she does well on the road of skilling.

<LOL try beinging an exhiled High Elf and do cultural's.>

Well, I hope you know getting a Chanter to 50ish will not be easy. If you want a one-stop-for-all tradeskill person then maybe a Chanter is good. Gnome gives you Tinkering also but High Elf gives you some nice Cultural Smithing. Erudite has the best starting INT but there Cultural Tailoring kinda sucks. Human Chanters can do VERY nice Cultural Smithing and now there is even kinda cultural Tailoring for them. Maybe you should do a Human Chanter and a Gnome Rogue (I have a Gnome Rogue) so you can do Tinkering and Posion Making.
But as always, that's just my 2cp....

As people stated above, race doesn't really matter for tradeskills. If you wish to pursue tinkering, then make a noam. If you like the cultural smithing/tailoring of a certain race, then make it that race. Erudites and high elves have higher int available, so getting int items might be less hassle. Choose a race you will enjoy. You will never get your chanter bot to 49 unless you enjoy the character. It took me a long time to get a noam to 16+ to tinker, as I really don't enjoy ugly short chars. I actually did enjoy the mage class, so my noam is now 20.

Regarding deity, most enchanters choose Agnostic these days, as it's easier to complete the epic, if that becomes a future goal for you. Deity has absolutely zero effect on tradeskills as no enchanter can imbue anything deity specific. Any deity can make any other deity cultural gear, as long as you are the proper race.

99.99999999% of all enchanters go Agnostic.

          Enchanters get illusions.

If Billy is a High Elf, Billy Casts "Illusionark Elf" , and walks into Neriak fine. He is amiable to some, indifferent to others.

Now if Billy worships Tunare, then he will still be KoS in alot of Neriak. NPCs can sense your god, and will still hate you.

There are VERY VERY few places in the world an Agnostic enchanter isnt welcome.

"HELP!!!! I'VE GOT SO MUCH CASH I CAN'T MOVE!!!!

            /cue british announcer

...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh the call of the gnome enchanter. Clearly the wealthiest of the wealthy and privelaged of the SonyEQ children. True they can't forage, but with their ability to get the best prices, group instantly (if they decide to waste their time on mere mortals), raid well, and solo like fiends they will always get the best camps, loot, and experience available in the game.

Oh, They may seem harmless, but don't let appearances fool you. They are quite possibly the most dangerous creatures you will ever face.

In fact, while all enchanters share common traits, gnome enchanters are the worst of the lot, they possess all the powers of other enchanters, but they can also can tinker. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term tinker, it is the gnomish word for "one who robs you blind." Therefore tinkering would of course be the process of robbing you blind.

/in a hushed voice ...Now I can't confirm this, but I am told that Innoruk used to be The most noble of all paladins, but, unfortunately for us all he had an encounter with a gnome tinkerer that left him so twisted he was unable to love anything at all. Ever again.

In addition to the evil art of tinkering the gnome enchanter (much like all enchanters) gets JCM at higher levels (with the proper allocation of AA). This enables them to undercut anyone and everyone who isn't an enchanter on profit margins and drive them out of business.

Their habitats are widely varied, but you can often find them sitting in nexus extorting others for thousands upon thousands of platinum as they push KEI on others. Alas, it is a sad sight to see. So many broken casters crawling back to their pusher. Day, after day, after day. All the while they smile and say "donate for invite". Their evil is truly without bounds.

Sometimes, after a hard, grueling day sitting in Nexus casting KEI for the addicts, they become bored, and wander into the bazaar where they hold tailors and Smiths hostage with promises of those those oh so rare mana vials. For a "donation" of course.

The key when dealing with these creatures is to remember that they are tricky. I've personally even heard one or two plead poverty directly. When confronted by this situation it is imperative that you avoid direct eye content with them. Just turn your head walk away. Remember, he who turns and runs away, lives to fight another day. I cannot place enough emphasis on this warning.

Whatever you do, do NOT argue with them, it's what they want, and it's pointless since they are completely unable to comprehend what it means to be truly poor. 100k in the bank or 100 million. The finest gear in all of Norrath...It's all the same to them, they are never ending pits of financial desperation.

Besides, it's not safe to stand next to one for too long. Even the best of the lot won't be able to help themselves. They may try to resist, but eventually they will succumb to the pressure to use their class defining skill. That greatest of the siphon line of spells. Siphon Cash. THAT'S RIGHT!!!!! They have the ability to siphon cash FROM THEIR VERY SURROUNDINGS!!!!!!!!!! More importantly, they can siphon it directly from YOU!!!! I can't tell you how many horror stories I have heard from people who accidentally fell asleep to close to one, and woke up with their bank account COMPLETELY EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!

In short, they may appear cute and cuddly, but, it is of the utmost importance to remember that inside they are evil, bloodthirsty creatures. Much like looking at a panda bear in a cage at the zoo, you want to run up and hug it, but it's oh so important to remember that the operative word in Panda bear is BEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good evening, good luck, and God speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides, what makes a good race for one tradeskill doesn't necessarily make them a good race for another.

In my smithing guide and elsewhere, I argue that the best races for smithing are those with good post-188 cultural smithing options because it gives them the most options for skilling up.

However, what makes a good character for smithing doesn't necessarily make a good character for tailoring. Take dwarves and ogres for example. They are two of the better (though not best) race for smithing, but they have no cultural tailoring options. None. Not even with the LoY robes. Humans and dark elves, for example, have LoY robes only, though the higher level robes needed to skill into the awkward "acrylia bridge" are almost impossible to make now due to the rarity of the materials needed. Wood elves, halflings, and erudites are not the best options for cultural smiths, due to the lack of post-188 cultural smithing options, but they are all excellent candidates for cultural tailoring. Wood elves also have good cultural fletching.

For skills such as baking and brewing, with no cultural options, one race is as good as another (although most ogres and trolls, being hampered in the int/wis department, are going to have problems there -- shamans might be OK if their wisdom is pushed and twinked to the max).

The choice for an enchanter is mostly needed in the smithing department.

So, what race do I think is very best to make a smith, as far as skillup options goes? Humans. And their best skilling option, imbued field plate, requires imbuing (cleric or druid), not enchanting -- although enchanting is necessary to make the heraldic armor later on. (Personally I think a human cleric or druid would be the best smithing choice as far as options for skilling go. Erollisi Marr has one of the cheapest stones too).

So if you want to make your enchanter a smith with the greatest number of post-188 skilling options, go human. Secondary enchanter/smith choice would be a dark elf -- high elves would work but high elven cultural has to deal with morning dew and that just plain sucks -- even worse than essence of shadow.

Fah, levelling a chanter to 50 is easy.

I'd pick human or dark elf enchanter or human tunare druid (or tunare cleric if that's an option).

Gives you solid int/wis and the ability to make some of the bottlenecks yourself.

Well I went Agnostic Gnome Enchanter... Seemed the best option as enchanters can enchant the jewelry for JC and being a gnome gets tinkering. I know I miss out on the cultural but with the skill needed for cultural smithing I can instead make Tae Ew stuff which sells a lot quicker and for higher profit on my server.

haha, well it may seem that way, and it may BE that way for some chants. But as for me....I did know what it was like to be truly poor spending all my money on peridots.....chanters peridots typically don't get thought of by most people, clerics yes usually, but not the poor chanters....

And I don't have the tolerance for casting KEI for hours and hours to make a little scratch. Trade skills were my true savior.

Chanters are probably the best "multi-use" tradeskiller since they can cover the chanter stuff which appears in many many other tradeskill recipies, and will have abilities to vendor where others can't. Adding gnome for the possibility of doing tinkering is probably smart.
