  • Not a Tradeskill Really.. but... maps?

I was wondering whether or not to post this, but after thinking about it, I decided to go ahead. My question is about maps for the new Cartography tool in the LoY expansion.

Has any one been making new maps for zones that do not come with maps? Are they all quested maps? Does anyone have an idea where to get some that are already formated for use with the tool?

It would of been nice if it was a skill that could be developed, and maybe even as something that could be sold to other's in game. It would also be nice to have something with grown spawns or other key locations put into it.

Follow one of the links there for a zip file with a map file of EVERY zone.

It has literally improved the EQ experience for me.
Changed the way I played the game, it did.

      I love the LoY maps.

      Let me say that again.

      I love the LoY maps.

I bought LoY for the maps.

      They rule.

      Best EQ enhancement ever.

      I have one request.

PLEASE, GIVE US A WAY TO MAP THE ELEMENTAL PLANES.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get maps activated for the locked zones.

So Far ToV, Elemental Planes, and Ssra Temple all have 'This zone cannot be mapped' when you bring up the map window. It was stated before that special parchments where necessary for some zones. Is this an item that drops that you turn in to an NPC? A quest of some sort?

Considering the wide availability of maps on the internet it's no real surprise that unlocking these zones is of high priority as /loc and printed maps usually do the trick... but still, would be quite nice.

The biggest boggler for me is why Kaladin, GFay, Dragnor's Cauldron, and LFay all have built in maps but Butcherblack does not! Huh? Is there something there that we're unaware of?

                Oh for christ sakes.

Denmom, can I have a custom title or some that says Grumpy Curmudgeon Man?

Or something, but I am tired of having everyone in every post say "OMG LILOSH IS A GUY WTFLOL!?!?!"

I downloaded the maps from EQ-Toolbox and added a few of them to my maps folder. Unfortunately, the single map that I've used so far (Timorous Deep) made my mouse cursor disappear whenever I turned off the height filter. Given that most of the maps are next to impossible to use with the height filter off, this is a problem...
                  Anyone know what's going on?
Note that this doesn't happen with the original maps or maps that I designed even after the incident with the TD map.

Funny, I hunted in TD for 3-4 levels, and used the eq-toolbox map exclusively.

So I would assume it isnt a problem with that specific Map File.

I had that problem in one zone... not TD though, as I Quad there very often, and use the map to find MY island each time.

I don't remember which zone, I may have to redownload that zip file.

That reminds me, anyone know of a better source for maps? Half of them are just really really bad, with no labels at all, and grey hard to see zone walls.

I'm looking for ones with Camp names, NPC names, etc.

P.S. Lilosh, I'm nearing 53 now... should I go AA to let you catch up? Questing fool .

Get half of your epic, come down with a cold, and then compare yourself to me, Wizard.

Epics are cool, and honestly I would Love a componentless shield, and a +25 int staff....

The major problem is I am already maxxed int, and that staff wont get me in a high end raid. So I gotta kinda level asap.

I wish you luck on yours though, hopefully I'll get mine eventually.

I wont compare anymore, you can happily sit back, and enjoy the dust.

Still no other sites with a compilation of more detailed maps? I really don't want to try to map zones myself, guess I'm lazy that way

A weapon that good would let you get rid of INT from your other slots, and add mana and Resists.

Which makes you drop LESS quickly on raids.

HP, Mana, Resists > Int/Wis , on raids.

True... but in the amount of time/effort it would take to get the epic, I can get a set of HP/Mana/Resist gear .

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great, I just wont be spending hundreds of hours on it like I have for my monk... who is a few camps from his.

So I'll roll on drops when I happen to be on a raid that has Wizard epic drops, but I wont be going around the rare spawns all day when I could be quadding.
