Just free thinking here, but the /doability is tied to the "slot" the ability is in so you MIGHT be able to drag it to a hotkey slot and write the /doability command into a macro that way
/doability is tied to the ability buttons, not the hotkey buttons, so there is no way to work a hotkey into a macro. If there was you could program two hotkeys to activate each other and create an infinite loop. And I'm almost positive there is no /doitem or similar command. :?

Ok ... /doitem ... not a command (/help command or /help normal forget which lists ALL the commands, and some commands that aren't yet... well do I remember when /trader and /bazaar were added before Luclin came out... the howling the howling....)

You -have- to "click and hold" on the inventory/equipment slot till it pops onto the cursor and drag that over to the hotkey bank.

No you CANNOT make one hotkey start another. You can't EVEN make a hotkey change keybanks.

(oh I wish I wish I wish.... For then I could have 1 always take me to keybank -one- and from there hotkey to each other keybank... no more hitting SHIFT-9 with the left hand [right hand on the mouse / arrow keys... perverts...] to change to my "open bags" keybank)

(yes, I -am- the laziest man on earth, once I figure out how to add "auto-equip" area to each bag in the new UI I won't have to add the extra step of "i" to each time I forage etc.)

Oh, tracking... yes it ONLY skill checks when you START tracking (have to close the window and reopen it EACH time.... *sigh* boy that was annoying, so glad my druid has 125 tracking and I never again have to endlessly smash the track button) ....

What I can't figure out is why you want a mob/npc/vender that won't die soon.... you skill check even if NOTHING comes up on track. (Ocean of Tears anyone.) Just mash the button as often as you can as long as you need to max it out... *shudder*twitch*

Any hot button I place in that slot will be linked to my arrow key. When I was practicing my foraging I’d place a forage button there. And every time I hit my turn arrow my character would try to forage. If the button was still gray I’d get a message that I couldn’t perform that action. But if the button was up I’d try to forage. The only problem is you have to get used to food and water suddenly appearing on your cursor. This also works for sense heading. Your skills will increase at a surprising rate this way.

Unfortunately, I set this up over a year ago and I can’t remember exactly what I did. I’m hoping this will sound familiar to someone and they can post how to set it up. But I at least wanted to let you know its possible to do.
I remember how to do this. It's easy.

        1. Put your Forage button in one of your 10 hotkey locations.

For the sake of the demonstration, assume you put Forage in 1.

        2. Under the Options menu (the thing that looks like a hardware nut) select the Keyboard tab.

        3. Under Select Category, select Macros.

        4. Under Hot Button 1, click the ----- in Alternate. It will turn into "Press a Key". Press whatever key you use to turn right normally (personally I use my right arrow key).

Now, every time your character turns right, you will also do whatever you have in the Hot Button 1 category -- in this example, Forage.

You can also do this for Sense Heading -- my characters all have max sense heading because of this.

YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE ALL YOUR CHARACTERS ON YOUR ACCOUNT CONFORM. In other words, this will fire off Hot Key 1 when you turn right on EVERY character in your account. Make sure this doesn't do something you don't want it to do.

I have always put my sense heading and forage keys to my left/right (a - d) movement keys. As far as Track goes you do NOT have to track something, just open the window and refresh it every time the key comes available. I have sat in PoK with a fishing pole in one hand, casted out all my mana, sat down mediate, hide, fish and track. I get skill ups for everything. I do this usually while waiting for the rest of the guild to get their act together so we can run off to some fancy far away place and have a succesful Corpse Run later that night.

Another issue with Useing Macros from within EQ is that your hot keys are unuseable while the macro is active. I have recently moved to useing a gamepad for Macros. I use the Nostromo Speedpad 50 from Beklin www.belkin.com it works great I ave a macro that does 5 forages for me per trip. 1 caviat with foraging it seems that you can hold Foraged items while foraging but you lkoose any duplicates. IE should you forage 5 roots while the macro runs and you dont drop said roots you end up with 1 root. now if you forage 3 roots 1 grub and 1 vegi you will end up with 1 root 1 grub and 1 vegi to drop.

              interrupting the macro

You can use any of your hotkeys while the foraging macro is running. I do it all the time.
You will also interrupt the macro if you hit the forage hotkey after it pops, but before the macro depresses it again.

                losing duplicates

I've also never lost duplicates. It just adds all of them to an existing stack at the same time.
