World's stupidest question

Howdy,

Ok... stand by for the world's stupidest question...

1) I have never really played a melee character who used ranged weapons. (my level 18 monk has used less than 20 throwing stars total EVER.)

2) I am about 2 days away from trying to make a tradeskill trophy. Which will represent 2 MONTHS of work.

3) I am -greatly- looking forward to the summoned WR bags from the trophy.

"If I have my tradeskill trophy on my ranged slot can I make a hotkey for that, like for "clickable" gloves etc or general inventory for opening bags / casting JBoots, which will do the "summon" effect.... or would that be a BAD IDEA since it's a ranged slot and that would be "make a ranged attack" and my trophy would go flying into the ether?"

Simple version.

Do you hotkey the ranged slot tradeskill trophy or move it to a general inventory and THEN summon the bag?

Yes, yes, yes... stupid question.... but I have to know.

You're thinking too hard. Right click it while it's in your range slot. You have to have your inventory open anyway, in order to put the bag away.

Reminds me of the time I spent a solid half hour looking for my glasses, up and down all over the house. Room to room, high and low, over and under and inside everything. Then, right after I had picked something up with my right hand to look underneath, the phone rang. I reached for it with my left hand...and there were my glasses, in my left hand. :shock:

Anyway, good luck on the trophy!! It's well worth the work, definitely!

My ui has the hotkeys in a single column, with a side bar with my inventory slots... with that you could summon them without opening the big inventory window.

Unless a range slot item has a "range" listed on the item (like the runed bone fork of yor does...), then it can't be thrown.. which is nice.

If you have something in ranged.... and hit "ranged attack" ....

You find yourself feeling really stupid...

(Last I knew you COULD throw a "seal of thoradin" from the 3rd shawl quest AWAY. Like I said, they might have patched it since and I simply forgot.)

I put anziok gauze press or whatever it is spelled in range/ammo slot all the time, and press 1 or 2, forget where those slots are on my hotkeys, it doesn't throw it, it summons the bandages.

It's easy to tell if you can throw something or not

Just look at the item stats. If it lists a range on it - you can throw it and lose it. If it doesn't list a range, then you can't. No, not range slot, an actual range as in distance - check an arrow or something if this doesn't ring a bell - all actual throwable/shootables have that extra stat.

If that ain't there - you can't throw it no matter how hard ya try.

Simple, no?

Not a stupid question actually - folks used to lose thier runed bone forks due to some genius having put a range on them - I'm sure that if they hadn't thought to make that fix we'd be seeing primal screams from rangers who accidentally threw/fired thier trophy at a mob for the world's most expensive arrow award.

But no, you can't accidentally launch it.

Had a friend sometime back tell me that he tossed about 10 different Dragoon Dirks back in the day when that was the best range slot items for melee for many levels before finally giving up on it.

If something has a 'range' ammount and is listed as a 'throwing' weapon then it can be tossed.. if it has no Range indicator then it's impossible to throw it away, so to speak.

Would be rather amusing to be able to throw anything like a shruken
