  • Gnoll invasion in JaggedPine... anyone ever tried to fight?

Hey all, I used to do a lot of time in JP, and one thing always kinda piqued my curiosity. The gnoll invasion that comes after killing the named gnoll. When this event is triggered, most players get the heck outta dodge, but I've actually stayed and solo'd against the invasion, with some success (I was killing the assasins when the timer elapsed and all the gnolls despawned), using charm, dots, and a lot of bardic speed. I never had a chance to grab much off the corpses, but one time, there was some sort of class-specific quest item on one of them. I tried to convince my guild to try fighting the invasion, with no success. Has anyone done this? What kinds of items can you get?

I heard that if you save all of the villagers you can turn in some of the drops...

I am planning on starting the war fairly soon because I need Bardukes head for my QBON... but you don't have to fight the war for that quest.

I've done this once. At the end of the fight, you distribute the class specific items that drop during the fight to those who are to turn them into the quest guard (forget his name), and receive your rewards. The quality of the rewards varies according to how many NPCs you keep alive throughout the fight.

When we did it, we accidentally allowed one NPC to die. There were murmurs of discontent (and laughter) when folks received their rewards. So it seems that to get worthwhile loot, you need to keep everyone alive. And it's possible that the items aren't great even if you do keep everyone alive, I suppose. The event itself, however, was a lot of fun, and worth doing just for the heck of it.
