  • Questions for Fan Faire

Here is a list of questions that I think would be good to get answers to at the Fan Faire. As I am unable to attend myself, I am hoping that someone will ask some of these. A few of them are pretty important ones that get debated often on the message boards here and always get mentioned to be asked at Fan Faires but never do.

Does a successful combine give a better chance for a skill-up?

Does int/wis over 255 have any benefit in chance in a skill-up? Either way, is it working properly (ie is it possibly having a negative effect currently)?

How do secondary stats work? Do they only kick in if that stat is higher than int/wis or does it give a second check for skill up?

Will modified skill ever be able to go over 252?

Will raw skill ever be able to go over 252?

Will modifiers ever be made to have their effect stack?

Obviously, the database has been reworked to hold tons more items so there is no fear of limited space in it anymore and so when will the gaps in cultural tradeskills be filled in? Just a couple of examples of many would be Bristlebane plate and Karana fletching.

Will there ever be a new tradeskill?

Will there be tradeskill made charm slot items?

Is dex ever going live as a secondary stat on tailoring?

Will there ever be any other AA's such as Jewel Crafting mastery that help to decrease failures on other tradeskills?

Please feel free to add questions on this post and hopefully some of them will get asked and answered in Vegas. I think that the first few are pretty important questions that the community here really deserves an answer to after all this time.

Can someone going PLEASE ask about the Bristlebane Party Platter used for the 8th step of the Aid Grimel quest.... Is it in game? Can we get more clues about what might be in it? It's been like four months now and it seems that we're still totally clueless.

The first question was brought up on our servers message board and someone who was at the SF Fan Faire replied that yes, having int/wis over 255 will have a positive effect on the skill-up rate(no wrap around).

Secondary stats work just like you asked. When Str/Dex(smithing/fletching respectively) are higher than int/wis, they will be checked for skill ups, instead of int/wis.

I was the one who asked the first question at SF Fan Faire and the definitive answer is yes it does. The second question was asked at the same faire and the answer was that they check which of the stats is higher, primary or secondary, and that stat is used for skill up.

Other questions I will see if I can ask them at the LV faire. I will be there but the time on these sessions are short and lot of people are asking questions and making comments so it would be hard to ask all those myself but will try to get as many in there as possible.

The question should be, does int/wis over your current cap help with skill ups. So pre-61, is there any reason to raise your int/wis over 255 when skilling up? Also Bristlebane plate already exists, it's made by dwarf cultural smiths.

Well, you can't raise your Wis/Int over 255 until you hit 61 and able to spend AA points on PoP AAs.

When are the newbie armors (which use tradeskills) going to be implemented for the remaining old world races - including the good Erudites?

I can raise my wis over 255 pre-61, just like a 250 skill tailor can raise their skill to 252 with a geerlok. Just because wis/int over 255 isn't displayed on my character stat screen doesn't mean it's not there and has no effect on skillups. That is what I would like clarified.

                    I can answer that one.

The cap is the cap... you do not raise your stats past the cap. It is the cap that is it. if you have 20 +20 Items you have 255... you do not have 400 that just looks like 255... you have 255.

Several of the Vah Shir progressive quests hint at more steps. Will these quests every be finished?

And what about Grilo? Been looking for him for over a year.

Ok. Here is a real question...

"If possible could a 'universal tradeskill component series' be installed?"

E.G. (Or I.E. not sure which)

If all 7 (-9-) tradeskills could have a "single component" combine recipe included in their skill up path.

== (you put "combine Item A" into the tradeskill container and hit "combine" ... that's it, no recipe) ==

The combine NEVER succedes, just eats the component, but gives you a "skill attempt" for skilling-up.

There would be 5 different levels.

Item A would be trivial at 50 and cost 25 pp.
Item B would be trivial at 100 and cost 50pp.
Item C would be trivial at 150 and cost 75 pp.
Item D would be trivial at 200 and cost 100 pp.
Item E would be trivial at 250 and cost 125 pp.

                        (trivial / 2 for cost.)

Remember that you only have to add 5 recipies to each container. 35 (or 45) total.

Remember that each ATTEMPT costs a heavy PP fee.

Remember that you only have to add ONE vendor (probably in PoP / PoK so as to require the newest expansion) to ONE zone.

Remember that there is NO SELL BACK. The PP is EATEN on each attempt.

And, remember, this will make EVERYONE shut the heck up about difficult "holes" in the skill up paths of EVERY tradeskill.

(don't want to camp acrylia... don't. Don't have an enchanter to ... don't. 8 million people on your server camping brute hides and misty acorns.... don't.)

                        Approximate costs....

One skill up in 5 attempts. 250 skill points. 1250 attempts. Average price 75 pp each attempt. 93750 -PP- to max a skill using only the "pay for skill" path.

                        Let's say that again.

We have a way to leech 100k pp out of EVERY tradeskill for EVERY player. Did someone say "money/time-sink" cause I swear I heard it.

                        /grin

Wish I were going to the LV FF. Wish someone could ask this question with a straight face.

                        Wish it would happen....

Simply want to know about the ungodly rarity of PoP Smithing components (didnt we ask this LAST TIME?), Words of Agony and other unholy-rare, research components, the rarity of Cazic Thule smithing tradeskill components (what, again?), and the requirements for PoP/CT Plate vs Chain

                            Questions

Thanks Taushar, I greatly appreaciate that. Yeah I know the forum for these doesn't really allow enough questions. I wish they would implement some sort of forum like on their web site in which they would give answers to this stuff more often so all questions could get asked. Also Sinuu is right on a lot of stuff has crazy low drop rates on components--cazic thule stuff and a lot of PoP stuff. The PoP stuff is crazy becuase there are super rare drops in 4th teir planes that a lot of us will never see making these tradeskill recipes useless to many of us.

Most of what I was going to say has already been mentioned (but I'd just like to add 'Solusek Ro imbues for BD cultural caster robes please'), so I'm reduced to this:

<Pet Peeve>Why does the old, non-BD, erudite cultural still need purified mana (and, hence, four rubies) per combines? Surely it can be reduced to one of the lesser mana vials?</Pet Peeve>
