Brewing definately, especially if you can get a deal on a corking device. The corker is the only real expense of brewing.

I'm guessing your goal is the trophy, so you will need the corker for that combine too.

Just pray you don't go on one of those 10 failures on the trophy runs since the higher cost of the trophy combine would eat up a lot of the savings from doing brewing.

I would have to agree with brewing as the cheapest I have been doing.
Minotaur Hero's Brew will get you to 248, and although it can be a pain to do as there are several items to combine, all the ingredients are cheap to buy.

Not to mention that brewing is an excellent choice for a foraging class -- if you have been saving your forages, you have lots of good, free (or nearly free) ways to skill up.

I have to agree... Brewing would be cheapest to 250.

Heck, if your INT or WIS is 255'ish you can get to 122 for less than 5 plat, all store bought in PoK. *shrug*

We should add that the fastest one (although not necessarily the most expensive) would be jewelry, which you can do in 3-5 hours depending on how fast you click and resell, standing in one spot (Thurg, for example). Gumkak's cheap & slow method (http://www.valendor.org/gumkak/jewelcraft.asp) absolutely rocks.

I can't estimate a price since I only have 200 myself (and I can't remember how much that was).

                    well...

I think I have to GM brewing with my Wizzy now.

122 for less than 5 plat. I'm going to keep track of what I spend trying to get to 250 brewing.

                    we'll see what happens eh?

                      re

if you are looking at getting a trophy you might consider baking as an option too. its more expensive and time consuming than brewing to get to 250, but you don't have to outlay any cash for the corking device for the tropy. Baking still isn't very expensive though.

My druid has spent more than a year and a half working on trade skills and isn’t close to reaching 250 in anything. Well, he’s hit 200 in a couple of skills but he’s trying for 250 baking and just hit trivial level with Halas Pies. So when I started playing my shaman I was determined to get to 250 and get a trophy, dagnabit. And you’ve guessed it, he took up brewing. The run to 122 with feted essence is so cheap to be almost free and the other recipes normally followed to 250 are relatively cheap as well. And once you start nearing the trivial on Hero Brew it almost pays for itself. I’m still trying for my last two points, 80 combines of Kaladim Constitutionals without a single skill up, but it’s still much cheaper than most trade skills at that level.

The only problem with brewing is there aren’t a lot of useful items to make. Alcoholic drinks are fun, but you can’t use them as a replacement for water. If you want to make drinks with extended durations, you aren’t going to find many. Unlike baking, brewing seems to have been mostly ignored. Though I’m hopeful for the further. But if the trophy is all your looking for, then brewing should work well for you. The only drawback to the brewing trophy is it requires a corking device for the final combine that goes poof whether you succeed or fail. And the corking device will likely cost you between 1 and 2k. Compare this to baking, for example, that requires a dairy spoon, an investment of perhaps 2pp. I assume Sony did this to offset the fact that brewing is so cheap to skill up in.

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

If all you want is the trophy, it doesn't matter what class you are.

                          Brewing

                          Minotaur Hero's Brew. Trivial = 248.

You can GM the skill, from zero, for 1-2k pp. True, unless you can forage, or farm kaladim, you can't make anything that special, but.. if all you want is the trophy.. forget all the other skills.... BREW.

If you can forage and farm it's not too expensive, but the plant shoots, brownie parts, and griffon and anaconda meats all start at 5pp and sell for as high as 50pp each, and it's nearly impossible to resell what they make--or any baking stuff for that matter. Baking is amazingly undercut on many servers.
