  • Finally! Ding 1750 on Karana! :)

Wow! I can’t believe this day has actually come, to when I can say the above words!

    Date 1750 Achieved: March 19, 2003 -- 23:40:58 PST
Days Played: 104 days, 8 hours, 1 minute
    Alyxia’s Birthdate: November 4, 1999 -- 19:51:31 PST

Say NO to Farming! (I hate farming, and always opt for the vendor option) Only really killed a few random mammoths for the delicious meat! YUM!

I did a lot of tradeskilling before/during Kunark, then I got too levelling-focussed, got burnt out and quit. Can anyone guess why? Yes, thaaaat’s right…the lack of tradeskilling drove me insane Some would say the opposite

Once I had the 1750 goal in sight, I hardly hunted with Alyxia, only hunting the raptors nonstop for 3 weeks to get all AAs needed to max NTCM. No raids. Tradeskilling practically every nite, only taking a break now and again when I run out of cash, to work on my secondary toon, who's level 52. After I GM'd smithing a few nights ago, my guildie almost had a heart attack when he saw me in PoN

In the list below, "Skill before Kunark" implies that I got to that level before I became levelling focussed.

    1) Tailoring
Total Cost: Didn’t take notice, but every single silk swatch for solstice robes was bought from bazaar, imbued my own emeralds, my GM JC enchanter made the chains
    Date GM’d: October 30, 2002
    Skill before Kunark: 100

    2) Baking
Total Cost: Negligible compared to Tailoring and Smithing
Date GM’d: Somewhere within the first 3 weeks after Tailoring GM’d
    Skill before Kunark: 135

    3) Jewelcraft
    Total Cost: 12kpp
Date GM’d: During the first 3 weeks after Tailoring GM’d
    Skill before Kunark: 0

    4) Brewing
Total Cost: 1.5kpp for the final 2 points doing Demi Sec Champagne, the rest is inconsequential
Date GM’d: Sometime during the first 3 weeks after Tailoring GM’d
    Skill before Kunark: 138

So you see a pattern? After I GM’d tailoring, I wanted to knock off the “easier” skills, before tackling the final 3.

    5) Pottery
    Total Cost: 80kpp
    Date GM’d: March 15, 2003
    Skill before Kunark: 168

    6) Blacksmithing
    Total Cost: 500kpp
    Date GM’d: March 16, 2003
    Skill before Kunark: 170

    7) Fletching
    Total Cost: 35kpp
    Date GM’d: March 19, 2003
    Skill before Kunark: 130

How did I fund all this? The gods dropped 1 mill plat on me...no, just kidding There's absolutely no way I could have done it if I had waited for my skill-up successes to fund my sessions, especially Smithing. I didn't have unlimited plat, nor guild funding to back me, but I did work hard to use my tradeskills to sell things that other people wanted. I can say that I was 100% Tradeskill funded.

/wipes sweat off her forehead, and tries to find someone to reattach her right arm

Thanks to Denmom, Ngreth, and all the wonderful moderators who make this the best tradeskills site. All your hard work and dedication is what makes our Norrathian lives enriched and exciting!

Holy sweet home made apple pie batman... does your sig say Lvl 56?

To have done this without guild sponsorship is incredible, and is quite possibly a first.

Though I don't know the details of most of the 1750's, my hat is off to your accomplishment.

56 has got to be the lowest level 1750 on any server

Did I mention that is amazing?

        I have a dream...

Thanks for the goal, Delfontes: to become the first level 51 member of the 1750 club. Or at least one of the first few, I level slowly, if at all, so it'll likely be months before I actually accumulate enough AA points and $ to fund this drive.

        And congratulations, Alyxia!

I find this comment quite strange. On my Server, Saryrn, we have a tradeskill channel where all the GM's, Multi Gm's etc talk in, and I dont think any of them recieved a dime from thier guild, myself included. For the most part you will find everyone does it on thier own steam, why a guild would dump an obscene amount of money into someone maxing thier tradeskills is beyond me, there's people out there demented enough to max them with no reward or funding, therefor, no reason for a guild to put money into financing something when they probably already have more than one person qualified in every field ) Then again, other servers may be different.

              Grats on your 1750 )
              250 Smithing +15%
              250 Jewelcraft +5%
              250 Baking +5%
              250 Brewing +5%
              250 Fletching +5%
              250 Tailoring +15%
              250 Pottery +5%

                I think its amazing.

                Gratz!

Even though on my server guild sponsership is common, I have also decided to try and do this without guild sponsership.

Well, it depends on what you mean by guild sponsorship.

No, my guild would never hand me cash for my tradeskills (bwahahahahaha, the thought of asking!) but they have collecting things and held onto them for the tradeskillers.

So with lots of exp groups in BoT, anyone trying to get baking to 250 would end up with stacks of Jord meat (bastards! Could have done that before I maxed baking!) regardless of whether they've ever set food in the planes.

I have received a total of 180 tufts of dire wolf fur by posting about the halfling bags (sadly that isn't much in the scheme of backpacks).

Jewels, bricks, anything like that is held onto and passed to the relevant guild member and woe betide anyone who dares to sell a spider silk to a merchant!

That, to me, is guild sponsorship. Perhaps there are guilds that hand you cash, but I've never run into one.

Edit: ARGH! And congratulations Alyxia! That's a great achievement!

Don't see the point in needing to reach 250 in a tradeskill when you have +5% or more item. Cap is 252 so 240 with a +5%, 230 with +10%, and 220 with a +15%. My goal is to reach 252 with +% item any more is just a waste of my time and money. If my skills go up as I then make things for quests, trade, or sale then fine.

                        Hehe...

                        Thanks everyone

Regarding guild sponsorship..I agree about not expecting your guild to give you insane amounts of plat to do tradeskilling, especially a guild that thinks I'm crazy in the first place Also regarding the saving of looted parts...because I insisted on doing the non-farming route as much as possible, and insisted on being self-sufficient (very important to me), I didn't ask them for any help on saving parts either

As for why do we want to hit 250? Because we're insane Period. Same question as "Why do you want all the trophies when you can only equip one?" Again, because we're insane, and I'd personally feel that if I hit 250 and DIDN'T have the trophy, I'd have cheated myself \

*argh* can't seem to find any jacinths and black sapphires for sale
