Yeah, but be ready to wait about 5 hours for a GM to answer your petition, and then say there's nothing they can do about it.

A guide who answered my petition, a few months ago was able to kill the offending merchant.

He even used a clever macro. "Back to work with you, Henrietta Hobbiton!" , with a bit of flavor text.

Cool, every time I've talked to a guide about repopping a vendor all I've gotten is the usual "Thanks, I'll pass it on to a GM."

Had a gutsy guide whose method was more direct, and suicidal.

He would agro the vendor, move it right to where it was supposed to be, and let it kill him..;-)

It may just be me, but vendors (that might have something I want on them!) out of place just annoys me quite a bit. I always figured some clueless noob that hasn't remapped his/her attack key to something other than 'a' hit it by mistake. I move such vendors back where they belong (of close) and root them, then zone to lose aggro. Presto, vendor is fixed.

I consider it extremely rude to deliberately make a vendor non-functional.

            Is it just me or...

Do NO vendors have more than visible inventory any more? I haven't played much in the past month or so but trying to farm my regular vendors, buying one item when their visible inv. is full, has every time got an empty slot in visible inv... if they've eliminated merchant mining, my income is down the toilet...

Apparently what is visible is all there is now. I was very disappointed as well, because I took a great deal of delight in vendor mining for many of my tradeskill supplies and unfortunately that's become pretty rare now.

I believe that the 10 extra bank slots dissapearing is a bug and will hopefully be fixed. Occasionally when buying all of a certain item another item will dissapear from inventory and it looks like there are more of what you wanted to buy, but there are not. I think the same bug is causing this that is causing the 10 extra slots to not be there.

                    Vendor resetting

                    Gryfalia,

That method of resetting (agro, pull to spot) is actually the recommended way for Guides/GMs to reset vendors. A /kill is a last resort kind of thing.

However, there was no need for the Guide to die to lose agro - they have several pieces of equipment that can either make them invulnerable to all attacks, or blur the memory of the targeted vendor once he/she is back in position.

As everyone else has stated, vendors aren't reset on a regular basis - they empty their inventory (except for the standard items assigned to that vendor) whenever there is a zone or server crash, or when they have to be /killed because the 'bump n go' method fails.

                    Hope this helps....

                      Vendor mining

I chose to believe that revealing the last 10 slots was intentional.... but the weird 'wrong item disappearing' and 'you can only possess one of these items' stuff I took to be the result of some botched LDoN-era coding.

                      /shrug

I don't have to spend money getting at the hidden items anymore ... And I can sell crummy items like rat whiskers to a full vendor, and be happy in the knowledge that they're gone forever..... yip-yip-yipee...

One notable exception: the vendors with High Quality Ore are periodically reset by doing a quest involving them. This clears their entire inventory and is done much more commonly than standard resets, and is important to skilling smiths... this might be the vendor the OP was referring to; particularly with 188 smithing, just past the level at which you need high quality ore.

But maybe I'm reading too much into that skill level...
