  • PotC quest question

So now my troll SK is 51 level and I can get the full benefit of the FT1 earing, I suddenly realise that I never bothered to confirm that I'll actually be able to go up to the person and turn in the components.

    What's this person's faction?
What is the min faction to do the turn in?
What are ways to boost faction if the person is on some goofy faction?

I never bothered thinking about the possibiblity that VI might descide to make this another one of those "light races can do NP but dark races need to spend three weeks of faction building" quests - one would hope that they didn't and one would assume that they didn't do to lack of uproar from dark races.

But, this is company has too much history to simply assume that my troll SK who worships CT will be able to simply roll in there, turn in everything and be done with it all.

So to borrow from the famous movie - "Is it safe?"

Almost every NPC in Fungus Grove are on the Traders of the Haven faction, probably Rebecca Cabbageleaf too. She's a Halfling in the first cabin on the left. If you hail her and get the 'quest' response the turn in shouldn't be a problem.

Traders of the Haven are the NPCs in Shadowhaven in the area around the pool and towards the Bazaar entrance. Everyone started out apprehensive when Luclin was launched. The best way to raise that faction is the notiorious faction necklace quest. It starts with Trade Commisionary Henry in Shadowhaven and involves running to the Bazaar and Fungus Grove. The quest is listed on Allakhazam as 'Traders of the Haven'.

Since Rebecca is in the FG outpost, I would assume that if you've done the SH faction quest (and I seem to recall you saying you had to do it multiple times), you should be safe. Don't know for certain though. If it helps, a dark elf necro I know did the turn in right after it was implemented with no problems.

I have yet to hear of anyone who could not do the quest. Iksar, DE, troll, have all reported to me that they were able to do the turn in. Since I sell several PoTC items, I was curious, so I asked people to let me know. To date, not one report of inability to do the turnin.

          Yah Cigar, no sweat.

I've heard she is on a separate faction, and anyone can turn it in to her. I did it at lvl 44, stats were already good enough at that time .

No one, no matter how KOS to everyone in the game that I have ever heard of, couldn't turn it in to her.

I ahve always been told she is on old-world neutral faction. Also i have never heard of anyone who has not been able to turn in the xanthe's earring to her.

My troll SK, with no faction work in SH or FG, had no trouble with the turn in. The combine actually gave me an increase in smithing from 0 to 1.

Does the FT1 not kick in until 51?

I'm know this has been asked 100 times, but I have seen it answered both ways.

Any item with a recomended level that has an effect/proc/right click will not work until the recomended level - no known exceptions to this rule to date.

Are you sure about that Cigar?

Last time this was discussed it was thought that FT just plain works on it. I don't time my mana bar, but that is the main reason I bought it, and I wont be 51 for months.

                        here is the previous thread:

                        http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2307&highlight=solstice

Took some doing to track it down... but someone said lvl 44 for the FT to work, and no one on that thread said it wasn't til 51.

Guess only way to know would be to check various levels with/without the earring.

The infravision effect on cobalt helm works at lvl 1. (ok, the rec level isn't listed, but all the other pieces work at 45.) also, I believe there is a newer EB item with a rec level, that works below that level.

My understanding of the way it works is: procs and clickies (generally)don't work until the recommended level. worn effects work for anyone who can equip it.

However, the Xanthe earring is an exception, even to this. I was albe to port with it at lvl 44, which is where the guy in the other thread got that number. Rec level 51, clicks at 44.

I COULD be wrong, but I do know that cobalt helm cures human night blindness, even at low levels.

Guild member got a Solstice Earring for his level 15 SK and did some testing and saw no difference in mana regen with earring on or off.

I noticed a distinct difference in mana regen when I put it on my level 43 ranger. (The relatively small mana pool made the difference pretty noticeable.)

However, some of the other stats showed that they were reduced from what they are for level 51+.
