  • Engraved Royal Velium Armor

Ok, I am a 55 Necromancer of the Saryrn Server. I currently have a Hum Pal alt, that has smithing at a decent level. However, he is level 1 and I don't plan to play him until I can get him outfitted. I'm still having fun with Necro.

I am looking at 4 pieces of the Engraved Royal Velium Armor that I like, and want to get for him. However, I don't want to buy it if I do not have to. I thought he could make the Royal Velium Armor and I could get a jeweler to engrave it for me, but I read that parts for this item are nodrop (ie: Soft Fur Padding).

    Necro has: (55, CT)
    Fletching 165
    Baking 194
    Tailoring 56
    Brewing 160

    Pal has: (1, EMarr)
    Smithing 146

Is there any alternative to buying this armor? PL'ing him to an insane level so pally can camp items for this armor is out of the question. lol

Then nope. High some smith to make the pieces you want.

Because this step is part of the shawl quest, it is already assumed you have high Tailoring and high Jewelcraft skills from the previous quests. The 8th shawl uses Blacksmithing, tailoring and JC. And there is simply no way around it because of no-drop items. You're only alternative is to skill up the necro and make the armor (or buy it in bazaar).

IIRC, The Velium Hound fur is Droppable.

1a) Spend a few days raising your Paladins Tailoring to a decent level.
1b) Spend a few minutes getting him to 180 JC.
        2) Camp the Velium Hounds, move the fur to your paladin.
        3) Make the fur padding yourself.
        4) Smith the armor.
4b) Engrave the armor , if need be.

Problem with part #4, the smith needs to have the no-drop gems. I guess you could camp him in the geonid caves and switch characters to loot each time a gem dropped though.

Paladin will need approx. 158+ tailoring, 180+ JC, and 188+ smithing.

The other question of course, which is faster? A necro farming plat to buy the stuff or skilling up to 158 in tailoring?
