  • Tradeskill Product Prices Seem to be Increasing

I'm a GM tailor and have been selling tailored goods on Povar for quite some time. I sell the full range of Arctic Wyvern, Cobalt Drake, Tigeraptor and Tunarean Soldier armor.

In general, there was a trend where market prices were eroding because of competition. The tunic I once sold for 4k now sold for 2k.

Then something happened. It was about two weeks ago. Maybe it was the implementation of LoY. There are fewer traders in the Bazaar and less competition in the products I sell. I've increased the price of finished products by as much as 60% and sales are brisk. I'm often the only seller of certain products. I last enjoyed this luxury almost a year ago.

Prices for tailoring components hasn't changed much, but the supply has gone down. There are fewer sellers of items such as blue diamonds and velium.

Are other people seeing this trend? Are tradeskillers getting bored with selling their products? Are folks spending their time with LoY? Is the increased bank space reducing the number of Bazaar mules? Is this just an anomaly on Povar not seen on other servers?

/e is puzzled, but not complaining.

Haven't seen it on Tarew, but I'm hoping it spreads. What I have noticed, though, is that prices are beginning to stabilize. During the past month or so, there has been a major flux in prices from one day or even one hour to the next. Now, with a few extremes, prices are leveling off, or at least staying within a relatively small range of each other.

Then again, I'm sure there will be another generation of power skillers right behind this one who are more than willing to crash markets again. My advice is let's just enjoy it while it lasts.

Actually, there was a rise in selling before LoY as people set up their frog twinks. There are fewer bazaar traders and slower sales now because everyone is playing their frog twink.

I expect this will change once everyone gets bored with their frog twink, and prices will resume downward pressure.

I've noticed this on Xev too - bazaar population has fallen to mid-200s on average vs the high-400s of just a few weeks ago and prices have gone up due to this new lack of competition and higher demand on resources for frog twinks.

I'm on the same Server as Thicket. But yes I've noticed it as well, especially with Velium pieces. Many other items too.

But on the other hand I have also seen where nobody was selling certain items are now abunduntaly overflowing. ...or maybe they are catching on to my buying frenzy hehe.

I'm with Kiztent, people will get bored again and prices will drop eventually.

For some reason my inventory seems to finally be selling!!! Maybe its just luck but i sold
            2 de cultural bracers
            1 de caster cloak (imbued)
            1 de cultural cloak

all within the span of a week

these kind of sales might encourage me to actually make more of them

I think Cigarskunk is probably right on when he mentioned Frog Twinks being the reson for the latest boom in bazaar sales.

Alomst every froglok character I've seen has been twinked to the gills (no pun intended) and all that gear has to be coming from somewhere. I think Tradeskilled items are the quickest and easiest ways to twink a character - much easier than spending hours camping for drops or questing for gear. (Although I did sepnt a couple nights questing all the Crafted Armor for my Froggy Warrior )

Even on items that may not seem like they are for Frogs (like say a DE Cultural Bracer) may be a direct result of a player moving gear from one character to their Frog, thus creating a need for the new armor. I'm working on this myself, as I'd really like to upgrade my Dwarf Cleric to Cultural armor and move the Royal Velium he's currently wearing to my Frog.

The Frog twink army, and the new zones. I believe players are dumping pastimes to check out the new zones, explore xp etc etc.

                They will be back .........

                  IMO

On RN the prices on some tradeskill components, such as tailoring, are falling. I have noticed say black pantherskins being sold by maybe one person and 2 if lucky in bazaar. But for the last 3 days there have been 5+ peeps selling. The price has gone from 200pp per to 120pp per last time i checked. Seems peeps are telling their friends about the money they are making selling them and they want a cut. Now for the rest of the velious supplies to start bottoming out

                    Re: IMO

                    Less competition...
                    Fewer items available...

I think the main cause is the fact that so many people are experiencing crashes in the Bazaar, and the bazaar zone itself crashing so much. My mana vial business has been seriously hampered by not being able to keep my mule logged in for more than 3 hours. I turned off ooc, shout and auction and can now keep him logged in until disconnect.

Most of the component prices are also falling--at least silks are on bertox--spiderlings for under 1pp and zombie skins for 1pp-skins for 3pp etc..

I haven't seen prices rising on the items I sell -- grobbs, misty thickets/halas pies, various steins. But I have seen sales coming quicker, as people stock up and twink their new froggies. The number of traders seems about the same on the food/drink stuff I sell, and is quickly increasing in pottery. But overall, the number of traders is way down. Frequent bazaar resets/crashes knocks a lot of people off who just leave a mule on basically forever without bothering to check if it's actually logged in.

Sweet in a way, but I don't think people at all are seeing what's coming -- a tidal wave of new froggies taking up tradeskills! This will be heaven for people selling sub-combines, though with all the mining going on(it's already pretty intense on my server), getting the items for many subcombines will be tougher.

But as regards finished products -- I've been selling off the opal steins I used to skill up part of pottery on -- had to drop prices by a third already to keep up. Grobbs liquidized meat prices cut in half, halas about the same(so far!), picnic roughly the same occasionally worse.

I think people who make really expensive combines are going to be hating it soon as all the rich froggy twinks make and sell trader goods for cost or LESS and flood the market. Tailors and smiths will be very hard hit, I'd guess, and pottery will get rough too as it goes from very difficult to next to pretty much impossible to keep it cheap after 199.

Beware the froggy tradeskillers! The flood won't be immediate and won't hit every trade at once, but over time I think we'll start to see an extended period of MORE tradeskillers, not less, and a good deal of market flooding.

I believe also, that since quite a few skills like Smithing and Tailoring, which generate a fair size industry by themselves in component sales. Might have dwindling numbers of players going right up to the 240's. The amount of players trying to GM in skills that offer the opportunity to buy components in the Bazaar, is shrinking.

With Smithing, and the semi-recent changes, alot of people wanted to take it up, but now after this amount of time the prices players once saw for many smithing products do not seem to exist in the former glory that they once held. Hence less interest from those who have a pure mercantile bent. Hence less numbers.

Also, the fact that the sheer number of players working on the Shawl quest, would of dropped quite considerably by now, even though there will always be a substantial number working on it.

And the earring of the Sol quest, just about every trade component seems to have 6 to 8 sellers nowadays.

Added to that the reference I made above to former prices, is driving alot of tradeskill items down in price as well (or will). Acrylia Studded pieces, which for awhile commanded great prices, are now considerably less. But it seems the pricing for small pieces of Acrylia is still around the 40 to 60pp mark for each one. That I attribute to brand name recognition. Its an Acrylia piece -> makes cloaks -> cloaks go for 2k !!! As an example (they are down to 600pp each now).

Falling prices on Tradeskill items, very competitive markets if not bordering on being crowded/saturated at the least. Does not entice new players to Tradeskill. Only those that are insane it seems

With all that said, I agree with another poster from Tarrew Marr, that prices have not really risen (for finished products), and components have not really dropped in price. There has been some stabilization of prices to a certain extent. But I believe that as time rolls on, what the original poster has noticed on Povar will also be true for Tarrew Marr.

                            That’s my analysis of it...

A lot has to do with LOY as others have said. Directly because people are playing those 2nd and third bazaar account with a froggy twinks and indirectly because those twinks all need to be outfitted.

I have seen a huge jump in sales on lower level twink armor and PToC quest items.

I personally don't feel the need to be green.
