  • Recipe result change for player made containers

I would like to suggest to those that go to to Fan Faire the following change:

When you make a Handmade backpack, the result is a Folded Handmade Backpack, with a single charge to Unfold Handmade Backpack. A similar change could be made to other player made containers such as quivers, Rallic Packs, etc.

The result would be the ability to sell player made containers in the bazaar. The folded item could be made lore, as in the case of the Rallic Pack, which would continue to control the camping of certain mobs.

This is already implemented in the Collapsible containers recently released. I do not think that it would be much of a stretch to include this change.

As a tailor I would oppose any measure allowing bags to be sold on traders in bazaar.

The only reason that Backpacks don't sell for the price of a hide (30pp), is because no one can farm 200 pelts, and sell the backpacks on their trader.

So you can still get 60pp if you want to sell fast, and 75pp for steady slow sales.

Anytime I need some spare cash, that is a good way to do it, don't take one of the last remaining 'easy' cash items away, hehe.

        I totally agree with delfontes.

Dont drive the price stupidly low by allow them to be sold in Trader Mode.

Heh, with trader sachels and all the WR bags out there, I didn't think people even bought handmade backpacks anymore. Not to mention everyone and their mother can make them due to the shawl quests.

Not everyone is doing the shawl quests, though. (Me, for example - Don't have the time OR the platinum to do them)

I've got an alt (Wood Elf Druid) that I'm training to be a Tailor, specifically so he can make Handmade Backpacks. I don't plan on having him attain a Tailoring skill over 100, and I likely won't be selling the handmade backpacks, either. Just making them for anyone in my guild who needs them and can supply the pelt and pattern. (or the pattern, if I happen to have any pelts in stock)

And for the record, I have one empty slot (so I can used my Collapsed Mixing Bowl and Spit). One space is taken up by a Rallic Pack, and the others by Handmade Backpacks (haven't paid a trip to Gukta to do the quest for that 20% reduction bag, and I transferred my EE Bag to my Druid (for holding pelts, of course)).

I agree that changing Handmade Backpacks so they could be sold in Trader Mode would be a bad idea. Because it would cause the prices of the pelts and the backpacks to both go down. They're perfect where they are now.

The problem is that the unfolded BP would be lore - which would mean you could only have 1 instead of 10 or so, or it wouldn't - which would mean you only need to sell one to a person's account.

              Interesting idea though.

I don't see why the unfolded backpack would have to be lore. The folded backpack could have one charge and be expendible like a potion. You buy as many as you need, and everytime you unfold one it results in the normal handmade backpack available right now.

I think the Lore reference was to Rallic Packs. I know the Rallic pack itself is Lore, and I believe the Rallic Pattern is also lore, but I'm not positive.

In this case, it would make sense to make the "Folded Rallic Pack" also Lore, creating a Lore pack. If you "unfold" a Folded Rallic Pack and you already have a Rallic pack in your possession, the unfolding merely fails and you don't lose the Folded Rallic Pack.

How awesome would it be, though, if Folded Handmade Backpacks were stackable?

Note: I really do believe they shouldn't be stackable, as it would really put a crunch on the backpack market (gross oversupply). If backpacks become too easy to sell (and twenty backpacks in one trader slot is far too easy), that will flood the market. On the other hand, merely selling packs via bazaar traders (one per trader slot) shouldn't hurt the market badly at all. You'll get the usual run of price competitions, sure, but since backpacks are not a skillup item, it shouldn't flood the market. Ergo, the price may drop a bit, but not enough to really hurt the market. At least, that's my opinion.

Rallic packs are LORE, Rallic pack Patterns are LORE, and Runner's pouches are LORE (as well as no drop). You can of course have all three on a character, sell the pack, make a new pack with the pattern, then go to Katta and hand in the pouch for a new pattern, then go whack the runner for a new pouch.

I think it would be ok to allow an NPC in the bazaar to except any type of tradeable container and give a "ticket" for it. Then the player can sell the ticket in trader mode. The buyer gives the ticket to the NPC and gets the correct type of bag.

Make the tickets LORE and the price problem of 200 pelt holding players goes away.
