  • Tradeskills gotten harder???

I loved the idea of GrandMastering a skill and started right off on baking... I created an enchanter just to play around with and my first character seemed to stall on his quest for baking... I am at skill level 189 in baking and have been making Misty Thicket Picnics with around a 10% success rate. Since the Ykesha updates started, I have not been successful in making a skill increase or a picnic basket in the last 100 attempts...
With a geerlock baking tool in hand, I cry out to the world... Is it just me???

Everything is fine, you are just having a bad run. Some folks have had as many as 400+ combines without a skillup.

It's not just you - just about everyone hits a snag around 188 - 191. So no worries you WILL see a skill up eventually, I promise. Just try to avoid carpal tunnel in the meantime.

oh, and blame it on the nether-worldly biorythms of the gods (whom I refuse to follow even!)... I know I always do.

Took me 212 combines to go from 188-189 - get ready for more because you are now officially in the hell levels.

PS - you know that you can make patty melts up to 191?

Are you sure those hell levels aren't in your head? I went from 185-191 in 120 or so patty melts... about 20 per skill-up. I'm 27 combines into 191, but I'd hardly think that is unusual, or that it would be different if I were over 200.

I know I combined a whole lot of mino brew in that area, but I don't remember it being different after 200 or anything, still was taking 50-60 combines a skill-up.

Maybe I read too much here, but I don't think a day goes by without the term Hell Levels being used... hehe

Baking 214 took me WAY over 225 combines... I stopped counting.

I believe in hell level. I really do.

before 191 in tailoring, I average about 5-7 combines/skill (from 162). 191 all the way to 210, I average 25 cobmines per skill, there were times it took me 90 combines for a skill up. I really hope I am finally out of it.

Hell levels aren't just in your head...

I'm a firm believer in "hell levels" too.

Remember, skill-ups are a random chance. So with all the hundreds of combines necessary to get to 250, it's not at all unreasonable that hitting that 3% chance (or whatever it is) will take far longer for some skill levels than other. Zopharr's worst hell level was 225 or so, and he had two others in the mid-high 100s.

Of course some people will sale though and experience no hell levels - worst my ogre had was one of like 110, with the next worst 70 or so. We call them people who have sold their souls. But a hell level like what you are experiencing is not at all uncommon

Hell levels are different for everybody. I never really encountered any in Brewing (wis 230ish), I think I had a couple of 60 to 80 combines for a skill point.

Smithing seems to have settled down for me as well (wis 250) only one skill point from 188 to 205 took 60 odd attempts.

Tailoring I am having a bit of trouble with 158 159 160 and 161 all took 60plus combines to do.

Baking is at 192 (wis 80 from about 188 onwards, don't hate me), and I am averaging about 30 combines per skill up.

As you can see its just all so random.
