  • Moving Learned Skills from one character to Another

I would like to know what people think about this. I have two level one mules with 250 Fletching and 250 Pottery. My main character has 250 Brewing. I skilled these up well before New Tanaan Crafting Mastery AA was available. I contacted a GM via the "Contact your GM" button on the EQ Live website about the possibility of moving these skills to my main character, provided I spend the necessary AA points beforehand. The response was that they have no way to do this. I was pretty bummed even though I was expecting that sort of answer.

So my question to you is... Do you think the GM just made that up so that they dont have to deal with this kind of issue? I find it surprising that they can't directly change skill levels. Do you think my request is at all reasonable in the first place?

He was lying, by that I mean, GMs can change skill level but I doubt he would in your case.

Even if a GM "could" do this - There would NEVER be a service to make this possible. The reason is FACTION and RACE.

A player could power up skills with different characters doing the farming for items that hurt factions that would make it harder to skill up the other tradeskill. This would "cheat" the faction system so SOE could never offer such a service. Plus a player could use race skills to up the level and avoid hard paths a different race has to suffer through. And lastly, Jewery done by a non-enchanter is always harder. This would stop any such system from being put in place.

      Bad Idea

I did not think of that, however, in my case, it would not have made any difference. In fact, skilling up level ones is harder then skilling one mains since they can't travel very safely.

Well they don't really have to travel much, just stand next to a vendor.
Many people have created "tradeskill mules" for a variety of reasons--
          (1) My main is already 200+ in something else, so I needed another character to do 250 in skill_xxx
          (2) My main is a melee class and dumb as rock and I want somebody who will skill up faster

Making a high elf enchanter with the huge CHA and decent INT was always a popular choice. A friend of mine did it, and then started playing the enchanter. Well the "main" is now a bazaar mule and the enchanter is level 62.

Besides for the reasons which are stated in here, which are good, it doesn't make any sense. Yes, roleplay doesn't mean much on EQ anymore except for your select guilds and/or servers. But why would some character all of a sudden pick up grandmaster in one or more skills without having to work their way through it? Yes, the player may have worked their way through it, but the character didn't.

Until Vulcans become a playable race and you can mind meld tradeskill info between 2 characters, it shouldn't be possible.

they CAN modify stuff like that but i beleive they have to log onto your char to do it

A guildie of mine didn't remember about specilization til 65 then trained in em (putting em all at 65). GM had to log her on to fix it cause it flagged her char as illegal.

illegal? really? a former guildie of mine did that at 60. figures that they havent fixed it yet of course.

as for the transfering thing, theres no reason for it to be possible and no real reason for someone to want to do so. deciding to put one skill on one character and another on another character should be an irrevocable decision. of course i think that your name and server should be an irrevocable decision too but...

I would want to switch my account to a different server because there is a guild I would rather be in. (Sorry Misplaced Spirits, but there are real life reasons I would move) But, because you cant take your items, I wont move.

                      Sure You Can...

Sure you can, just pay the extra $40 and move to Stormhammer for a month. You can move to and from there with all your equipment.

Edit: Unless you wanna move to FV or a Zek cerver, I dont think thats allowed.

Another reason why this isnt a good idea.... and quite blaintantly wrong...

Take my main Pootle. 204 tailoring and 185-191 in all other skills.

Pootle is proud owner of 8th Coldain Shawl.

Now imagine if i decided to start a Mage, and i level her up a ways..... I could transfer all my skills and Blamo i can do my prayer shawl witout the extra work.

How to transfer skills to another character

The way to transfer skills to an alt is by knowledge and experience of having done it before.

After taking all her life to get to 191 baking (kill a bear, cook it up(1), more halas pies(191)), I then made an alt. She was 191 after a dozen stacks of grilled cheese.

Everything is so much easier for my alt.[list]more money
                          more WIS/INT gear
2 players to choose from at each farming instance
                          Knowing exactly where/what to farm[/list:u]
I am sure that you can get your main up and skill quite quick. Of course 200 to 250 is still a pain :-(

GMs can change any number on any character.
They are not allowed to change characteristics, only fix them.
(just think, the GMs friend is level 11... well lets just change a number. viola 61. This would be bad)
