  • Best tradeskill to GM in?

Hello all! I need some advice please. I'm a level 18 High elf wizard and I have 164 Int (need better gear!) and 109 charisma. I have the following tradeskill stats:
    Baking 156
    Pottery 126
    Smithing 106
I plan to get Brewing & Tailoring (I really like those backpacks!) up to 100 next & I am doing some research on the side but it does'nt appear to be very viable so I don't plan on working it too much. Which tradeskill would be best & most profitable to GM? Also which would be the best 2nd skill to raise with AA points after level 50? Any help is very appreciated! Thank you!

If level 18 is your main, then you only have 2 real options.

    Baking or Brewing.

By the time you can afford the rest, you'll be high enough level to get NTCM, and that is no joke.

Check out the guides for baking and brewing, they are very good and should answer any other questions you have.

Thank you delfontes for your advice! One question though, what is NTCM? Sorry, newbie here & 1st character. I'm leaning more to Baking to GM, since I could use all the other skills for components for those elusive MTP's! But I've got alot more pattymelt's to go before I can get there! Gggrrrr....

It is an alternate advancement skill, New Tannan Crafting Mastery, it lets you get a second skill over 200.

You can't get it til after level 51, and for each skill you want to add it costs the experience of roughly 3 level 50's. (the amt of experience it would take to go from level 50 to 51).

if your only level 18, i'd reccommend Baking over brewing, you can get all the stuff neccesary to make more stat food in baking.

You can get Pottery to 191 with a bit of effort.
You can get smithing to about 115 without needing serious finances.
Baking until 191 is VERY easy, and pays for itself.

Brewing until 248 is easy, cheap, and carpal-tunnel inducing.

Tailoring until about 115 is possible at 18. Possibly 131, if you know a tunare druid and have a bit of start-up capital, you can make and resell Sacred Tunare Silk.

              What am I forgetting??

Ahh... Jewelcraft. At level 18, you can probably get to 130-150 , I forget where gold starts, before you will need more money.

Bah, that's six. If I have forgotten one, then Jeebus (My level 9 cleric) shall surely strike me down.

Sir0die is right, you are very limited and need to forage for anything that can be made cheaply brewing.

After the hassle I went through to get a corking device to make the better high end brews, I realise it would be all but impossible for someone lower level to get one.

Just to summarise, they go for 2k and component cost at the absolute best is 500pp.

pottery COULD be a good one also, you can get to around 222 with all vendor bought stuff, but to get from 199 to 222, you'd need to make opal encrusted steins, not too bad, about 40P per combine, give or take 5p.

with baking, you could make MTPs (misty thicket Picnics) but would have to buy your brownie parts. HMPs (halas 10lbs Meat pies) you'd have to buy your mammoth meats.

there is also a link in the general are called Funds, which might help ya make a few plat. relitively simple, makes ya about 4 plat per set of combines, might help since you're only 18. another profit maker (not big profit) is to kill wolves and fillet their meat (also used in HMPs). wolf mead sells for about 7silver, but if you fillet it, you get 10 fillets, which also sell for about 7 silver, so one measly combine, gets you 10 times more cash than if you just sold the meat.

Lilosh LOL!! I think already have carpal tunnel syndrome! Thanks for the info, thank god my hubby's 30 enchanter is the jewelcrafter, I'd never afford it!

Delfontes nice info on the brewing! I'm definitly going to increase that skill! Tailoring I only want high enough to do backpacks. I think my top 2 will definitely be baking & brewing.

Thanks again everyone! I look forward to visiting this site often!!

Brownies in Steamfont are easily campable at 18. I agree that baking is a good choice.

SirOdie, I just saw your last post thank you! Funny I've had wolf meat all along and never thought to fillet it and then sell it, every little bit helps! I'm a little confused though, where is this linkyou mentioned? I can't seem to find it.
