  • Intelligence? How high should it be?

This has probably been asked in the way, dark past, but I'm considering starting tradeskills with my 62 beastlord. Her Wisdom is at 165 unbuffed and with kei it pushes it to 190 which I think is plenty for tradeskills in that area. However, even with KEI, her Intelligence sits at a meager 109 . Though I know buying Int gear will help, I hate having to run to the bank, pick up different gear to go do this stuff. So I'm thinking about dumping AA's into Int . With just 9 AA's, I can boost my intelligence to 127 with Kei and no extra Int gear. What I'm wondering is, what is the recommended Int level for doing tradeskills? And at what lvl of Int does the benefits for skill checks start to wane out?

Another question is, how will a higher Intelligence help me in grouping / raiding / etc... Does it help with resisting certain spells? And if so, which? Will it help with less fizzles by chance?

So basically, this is an ALL INTELLIGENCE trait question? What will it do for me as a beastlord and with tradeskills?

From the Stats and Tradeskills FAQ:
INT & WIS: whichever of the two is higher will affect skill increases when practicing any tradeskill. The higher either your INT or WIS is, the greater the chance you have for a skill gain while tradeskilling.
If your wis is higher than your int, the int is doing nothing whatsoever. Get your wis as high as you can, and ignore int completely.

Depending on the skill, you may also get a secondary benefit from strength (smithing) or dexterity (fletching or jewelcraft). See the link for more details

Hmm... I've read several different threads that say that Intelligence helps the skill to climb higher and Wisdom helps success rate. I've also read what was posted above that it only matters which one is higher. With my druid, I raised his brewing skill up to 169 or so and once I hit in the 140's things really slowed down and I thought it might have been due to his intelligence being much lower (think about 117 unbuffed). His wisdom at the time was about 182 (now I think it's at 202) . If it is the case that whichever is higher, then how high should my wisdom be to power up tradeskills? 200+ ? or does the skill curb at a lower level of around 180 or so?

Very early on, the belief (and possible the reality?) was that int helped skill increases whilst wisdom helped successes. Since this also applied to combat skills at one time, and was changed (now str or dex helps skill ups, depending) it's possible that this really was the case once upon a time. Certainly the information circulates persistently.

However, it has been both stated by Verant and independently confirmed by tradeskillers, that the current state is that the higher of the relevant stat influences skill ups, whilst only (modified) skill versus trivial impacts skill successes. Below 180 or so, approaching 200 appears sufficient for an increase in skill at a reasonable rate. Past that point, the closer you can get to 255 the happier you will be, as increases slow to a crawl even with max int/wis.
